Demon Slayer Infinity Castle

Demon Slayer is easily the most successful anime project by Ufotable, and its immense popularity speaks volumes about the incredible work done by the studio. It even won the Best Continuing Series Award in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2025 for the Hashira Training Arc, the least favorite arc of the series. While the arc itself didn’t have a lot of action, the finale episode was more than intense enough to make up for it. It also teased the highly anticipated Infinity Castle Arc. Even before the fourth anime season, Ufotable had confirmed that the final arc would be made into a trilogy movie in a clear bid to outdo the record-breaking box office success of Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train.

That’s a bold decision from the studio, as not a lot of anime make canon movies beyond the recent trend of compilation movies, and especially not a trilogy at that. It caused a lot of controversy, especially among the younger fans who would rather sit at home and enjoy a series, with us collectively spoiled by global simulcast releases in recent years. Personally, after experiencing the Infinity Train film in the theatres, I’m looking forward to the upcoming movies as well. Not a lot of studios can compete with Ufotable in terms of animation and cinematic experience, and I have no doubt that the Infinity Castle films will be like that as well. However, if there’s one thing that’s bugging me, it’s how utterly boring and repetitive the promotion has been so far. The series is only 50 days away from the Japanese release date, but Ufotable hasn’t even released an official trailer yet.

Demon Slayer – The Movie: Infinity Castle’s Countdown Promo Is Painfully Disappointing

Unlike most official anime accounts, Demon Slayer’s PR is always active, a little too active if you ask me. They post several updates each day, but nothing too substantial to catch your eye. They also started a 100-day countdown for the film, but it’s just unnecessary information that’s not enough to build excitement among fans, especially at the rate of its current output. Even the 50-day countdown they shared today, May 28th, is just the sixth installment of the special announcement video. The film will be released this summer on July 18th in Japanese theaters. Keep in mind that this countdown is only for Japanese fans in consideration, with more than 50 additional days to wait for the September 12th release date in the United States and Canada.

ufotable

The video begins with the staff members at Machi ★ Asobi Vol. 28 before beginning another random slideshow-quality tease of the famous characters inside the castle. Additionally, up until a week ago, all we saw was Rengoku being the face of the Mugen Train film that was re-released in the theatres. After going all out with the promotion of an older blockbuster, you’d think that Ufotable would finally focus on its biggest project at hand. The character visuals and teasers we have seen so far have been great, but the redundancy is unbearable.

I don’t think wanting to see a proper glimpse at the arc or the fights with the release date approaching so quickly is a lot to expect. Even the fans have started to lose patience at this point, and are asking to see something new in the replies to the countdown posts, with the main demand always being for a proper trailer above all else. Maybe the studio will release something in a couple of weeks, but so far, there’s no guarantee. This is genuinely a disappointing way to count down to such an exciting movie, banking on fan enthusiasm to stay alive when they trot out the same set of character posters and Rengoku seat covers.

ufotable

Demon Slayer Could’ve Benefited With More Engaging Promotion

I’m not the only one who would easily be happy with some teasers highlighting key moments, voiceover monologues, the fight matchups, etc., instead. Any mixture of these promos could’ve built some real hype during the countdown. Fans, including myself, are keeping our eyes peeled for any exciting news from the studio, and would love to discuss the content if it were actually interesting. Unfortunately, we are heading towards the release date completely blind. Even the so-called official trailer released in December last year was just a short recap of the Hashira Training Arc finale, the Demon Slayer Corps charging at Muzan and falling into the castle.

The lack of engaging content from the studio makes it challenging for me to maintain my enthusiasm during the long wait as a longtime fan. That is especially the case since the movie is already getting a delayed release date outside of Japan. It’s almost as if the countdown is less about building hype and more about fulfilling an obligation. Not only that, but even the second and third installments are nothing but mysteries to fans. We already know by now that the Infinity Castle Arc will stage the final fight against Muzan and the Upper Ranks. With stakes higher than ever, the Demon Slayers will put everything on the line for the sake of humanity.

As a series that has been running for over twenty-five years with the end still nowhere near in sight, One Piece is easily the first anime that comes to mind when thinking of the best continuing anime series. The series has continued to enthrall viewers of all ages and ethnicities for decades, growing into a global sensation with fame and success that many series can only hope to achieve. Having said that, the last couple of years have finally given One Piece some tough competition, and now one of these new sensations has beaten One Piece for a major award at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

At long last, the winners of Crunchyroll’s 2025 Anime Awards have been unveiled, and much to the surprise of One Piece fans around the world, Demon Slayer has dethroned One Piece in the Best Continuing Series category, winning the award with the Hashira Training Arc. This loss for One Piece has come as quite a surprise, given the series’ meteoric improvement in animation quality for the Egghead Arc over the last year. Having said that, Demon Slayer truly emerged as the dark horse this time around for the Anime Awards, even taking home the win in the Best Animation category against tough competition like Dandadan, Freiren: Beyond Journey’s End, and most surprisingly of all, Solo Leveling.

Demon Slayer Dethrones One Piece as the Best Continuing Series

While the loss for One Piece may seem surprising at first glance, it is important to remember that One Piece has taken home the award for the Best Continuing Series back to back for the last two years. The only other time One Piece was nominated and lost was to Dragon Ball Super back in 2019. There is also the fact that One Piece’s anime, despite being nominated, was on hiatus for nearly half a year, which may or may not have impacted its chances this year.

As such, many might argue that it is refreshing to see another series take home the win for a change, and Demon Slayer is more than deserving. Demon Slayer has given fans one exceptional season after the next, with the Mugen Train movie still sitting cozy as the highest-grossing Japanese animated film of all time. The Hashira Training Arc, which was the latest installment of the series, also quite literally blew fans away with its explosive finale. More importantly, with the series set to wrap up its story with the upcoming Infinity Castle film trilogy, this may have been Demon Slayer’s one and only chance to take home the title, and thankfully, it did.

Demon Slayer and One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.

As fun as a good fistfight can be to watch, there’s no denying that some of the best fights in anime involve swords. Be it the Japanese katana in Demon Slayer or medieval greatswords in Black Clover and Berserk, swords in anime come in all shapes and sizes, and even abstract concepts in the case of the Fate franchise. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find an action anime without at least a single sword wielder, which is a clear testament to just how much swordfights open the door to creativity in anime, not just in terms of the fight choreography and animation but also in terms of the sword’s design itself. These swords have become so iconic, photorealistic replicas have become a staple of professional cosplayers and comic-con attendees around the world, and while the replicas offered by Mini Katana won’t grant you the same power as those who wield them, it’s the next best thing.

Owing to their unique designs, many anime swords have come to be just as iconic as the swordsmen who wield them. Some excellent examples of this include Guts’ Dragon Slayer from Berserk, Mihawk’s ornate Yoru in One Piece, or any of the Hashira’s Nichirin blades in Demon Slayer, all of which have become all but synonymous with their respective wielders. Having said that, while there are plenty more iconic swords in anime, these might just be the best ones of all time.

1) Guts’ Dragon Slayer (Berserk)

berserk-guts.jpg

As far as claymores and greatswords go in anime, it’s hard to find one more iconic than Guts’ Dragon Slayer from Berserk. While the sword itself is objectively quite plain-looking, what makes the Dragon Slayer so memorable is the ease with which Guts wields it, swinging it around and chopping up humans and demons as if it were any normal-sized sword.

Having said that, don’t let the Dragon Slayer’s simple design deceive you, as the sword’s prolonged use over the years against deadly creatures and Apostles has allowed Guts to wound Astral entities including Slan of the God Hand. Despite its memorable introduction, the Dragon Slayer is indeed far more than a large hunk of iron in the hands of Guts.

2) Asta’s Demon-Slayer Sword (Black Clover)

Black Clover Anime Asta Sword of the Wizard King

Besides Guts, another greatsword wielder who has caught everyone’s attention as of late is Asta from Black Clover with his Demon-Slayer Sword. While even to a layman’s eye, it seems like a clear homage to Berserk, the added crossguard creates a distinctive claymore flavor with its own added quirks thanks to its unique properties perfectly suited to Asta. What makes the Demon-Slayer Sword just as memorable is Asta’s short stature, which surprisingly does not stop him from wielding the sword with just as much dexterity despite it being much bigger than him.

For those of us born without magic much like our favorite Black Bull Magic Knight, Asta’s Demon-Slayer Sword is a distinctive accessory perfect for Black Clover fans at photoshoots or conventions. Despite its rusty old appearance, the Demon Slayer is quite special even by itself, allowing Asta to channel anti-magic and cleave through even the strongest of spells, if not hit his opponents with pure blunt force.

You can check out Mini Katana’s Demon-Slayer Sword here.

3) Gilgamesh’s Ea/Sword of Rupture (Fate Series)

Although its appearance is quite unusual and unlike typical swords, the Sword of Rupture, or Ea as it is otherwise known, is one of the most powerful Noble Phantasms in the entire Fate franchise and may just be one of the most broken weapons in all of anime. The Ea predates the very concept of a sword and grants Gilgamesh transcendental power that cannot be replicated even by Emiya’s Unlimited Blade Works. Furthermore, the weapon can only be wielded by Gilgamesh, who only uses it against those he deems worthy of fighting it.

4) Rengoku’s Nichirin (Demon Slayer)

While Demon Slayer boasts many uniquely looking Nichirin blades, Rengoku’s sword is easily the most recognizable and iconic one of the series. Despite the Flame Hashira only making his debut in Season 2, Rengoku was quick to leave a lasting impression on fans through his final fight against Akaza.

Furthermore, Rengoku’s sword continues to hold great significance in the series, with Tanjiro inheriting the distinctive flame-shaped hilt of Rengoku’s sword and incorporating it into his own blade. If there’s any sword worth collecting from Demon Slayer, it has to be Rengoku’s.

You can check out Renogku’s sword from Mini Katana here.

5) Toji’s Split-Soul Katana (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Jujutsu Kaisen Hidden Inventory Toji

Surprisingly, despite being a battle shonen, katanas and swords in Jujutsu Kaisen are quite a rare sight, with the most memorable one being Toji’s Split-Soul katana. This weapon first makes its debut during the Hidden Inventory Arc, with Toji using it on multiple instances throughout.

Despite its unassuming appearance, the Split-Soul katana is quite powerful due to its ability to target an opponent’s soul, which makes it near-impossible to heal wounds inflicted by it with the Reverse Cursed Technique. This passing weapon eventually proves to be quite a game-changer in the final battle against Sukuna, wherein Maki wields an exact replica of it.

6) Ichigo’s Zangetsu (Bleach)

bleach-thousand-year-blood-war-ichigo-uryu-orihime-chad.jpg

Any list of the most iconic swords in anime would be incomplete without mentioning the Zangetsu from Bleach. The Zangetsu, which is Ichigo’s Zanpakuto, is unlike any other in the entire series as it is a fusion of Ichigo’s Quincy powers and the Hollow White. In Shikai form, the Zangetsu typically takes the form of a large black and silver longsword that almost resembles a knife, though when Ichigo later unlocks its true powers, the Zangetsu also takes the form of dual black blades representing its unique split constitution.

7) Mihawk’s Yoru (One Piece)

One Piece Mihawk

While Zoro may be the swordsman that fans see the most of in One Piece, with many memorable swords like Enma, Wado Ichimonji, and the Sandai Kitetsu, the award for the most iconic sword in One Piece would have to go to Dracula Mihawk’s Yoru. Although Mihawk makes only a few appearances in the series, his incredibly ornate, jewel-studded sword is impossible to forget, with replicas being a coveted accessory for One Piece fans.

Mihawk’s Yoru made a terrifying debut in One Piece after Roronoa Zoro’s ill-fated and short-lived duel with the Warlord, resulting in the Pirate Hunter’s (at the time) inferior swords being shattered, along with a grievous wound to Zoro’s chest. Besides its unique appearance, the Yoru also lives up to its wielder’s reputation as the World’s Strongest Swordsman, with the Yoru not only being a black blade but also one of the 12 Supreme Grade swords, thus owning a legacy and reputation of its own.

You can check out Mini Katana’s Yoru replica here.

Demon Slayer is about to have one of its biggest years ever as the first of the grand finale trilogy, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, will hit theaters in Japan this summer and then theaters in North America this fall. As fans wait to see Tanjiro and the other members of the Demon Slayer Corps fight against Muzan and his strongest demonic lieutenants, Ufotable is revisiting Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. Hitting theaters in Japan to celebrate, what remains, the biggest anime movie of all time, a “Rengoku nightmare” has been revealed to extend the theatrical run of the demonic locomotive.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s return to theaters in Japan was scheduled from May 9th to May 22nd, once again bringing anime fans into the battle that garnered the shonen franchise hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide. During the run, Rengoku’s voice actor Satoshi Hino helped ring in the big event with special seat coverings for theaters that were participating in the re-release. Thanks to the success of Mugen Train’s return, many theaters are set to extend the run for an untold amount of time, once again proving just how big Demon Slayer has become since it first hit the anime world. Now, not only has Hino returned with the new covers but a disturbing rendition of Rengoku has arrived to boot.

The Rengoku Nightmare Arrives

Both the Mugen Train and the new “seat jacks” that have Rengoku front and center in theaters will receive a longer run, with the official Demon Slayer social media account sharing the following statement, “Regarding the current theater seat jack, It has been decided that some theaters will extend the screening period beyond Friday, May 23rd. The period and screens vary by theater. For details, please check the screening schedule on each theater’s official website.”

Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, was one of the main focuses of Mugen Train and unfortunately, his story did not end in the way that many shonen fans were hoping to see. In his fight against one of the world’s strongest demons, Akaza, Rengoku’s mastery of the sword wasn’t enough to help him survive the fight and Tanjiro was forced to learn a harsh lesson in the film. Demon Slayer would release future films in Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village and Demon Slayer: To The Hashira Training, though both of these cinematic offerings were compilation films. With the upcoming arrival of the Infinity Castle films, it will be interesting to see if they manage to overtake Mugen Train at the box office.

What Happens in Infinity Castle?

While Demon Slayer’s final film of the trilogy is still most likely years away at this point in time, manga readers who followed the shonen series know how Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the heroes’ story ends. Creator Koyoharu Gotouge brought the manga to an end in 2020 and ever since, the mangaka hasn’t hinted at the universe returning with a sequel and/or spin-off. Based on the events of the shonen series, the anime adaptation is planning to end things with a serious bang.

Demon Slayer Tanjiro and Nezuko Season 1

With less than two months until Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle is released in Japanese theaters, Aniplex and Toho are getting serious with the 100 Days to Infinity Castle countdown. Aside from the occasional teaser trailer, the past 40 days have been filled with character posters and photos of the movie’s voice cast. But, Aniplex and Toho are finally giving fans something to sink their teeth into, and it’s absolutely free.

This year’s Infinity Castle movie is the first in a new trilogy that will bring the Demon Slayer anime to a very dramatic end. Over four seasons and a movie, Demon Slayer has quickly grown to become one of the most popular anime of all time, along with One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Solo Leveling. Before fans dive into the Infinity Castle movie this summer, Aniplex wants to take us back to where it all began.

Demon Slayer Will Stream for Free on YouTube!

With internet piracy being a bigger threat than ever, many anime fans are finding alternative ways to stream their favorite shows. But Aniplex has looked those fans in the eyes, said “hold my beer,” and cut out the middle man. As part of the build-up to Infinity Castle‘s Japanese release, every episode of Demon Slayer will stream for free on YouTube!

The official Aniplex YouTube channel will begin streaming each episode of Demon Slayer on May 22nd. New episodes will go live every day from then on at 6 PM JT (5 AM ET). Starting with the show’s very first episode, fans can re-experience Tanjiro’s journey from a kindhearted woodcutter to a kindhearted slayer of demons. So far, only the subbed versions of Demon Slayer have been announced for the YouTube stream, so dub fans might be out of luck as a dubbed version hasn’t been confirmed.

But this doesn’t mean the show will remain free on YouTube forever. The YouTube live stream is like live TV with extra steps. Once the episode finishes streaming on Aniplex’s channel, fans will have to jump back over to Crunchyroll or Netflix to stream the series again. In the spirit of Tanjiro’s kind heart, we’ve linked to the first episode’s livestream, which can be found at the top of this article.

Demon Slayer Fans Are Eating Good This Summer!

Ufotable, Aniplex, and Toho have gone all out this summer, treating fans with non-stop goodies, freebies, and updates in the build-up to Infinity Castle‘s Japanese release. The movie hits Japanese theaters on July 18. American and Canadian fans will have to duck spoilers online for a little while, as Crunchyroll is releasing the film in the US and Canada on September 12.

Arguably, the biggest treat is the Mugen Train movie receiving a stunning 4K remaster and being launched back into theaters worldwide. It hasn’t been revealed how the YouTube live-stream will tackle the Mugen Train movie. But, considering the series has been split into six episodes on Crunchyroll, the YouTube stream will likely follow that format.

Demon Slayer’s Hasiras are getting all of the attention in the latest entries in the 100 Days to Infinity Castle promo series. The past 40 days have included various character posters, behind-the-scenes shots of the voice cast, and the occasional teaser trailer. The past week has also seen Rengoku finally get the posthumous attention he deserves, as the Mugen Train movie returns to theaters for a limited 4K re-release. But, after being bombarded with promos depicting the extinguished Flame Hashira, Demon Slayer is showing some love to the Hashira with the same namesake.

The Love Hashira, Mitsuri, became a fan favorite after she was featured in the Swordsmith Village Arc, alongside the Mist Hashira, Muichiro. While the season was the target of much criticism from fans, Mitsuri and Muichiro stole the show by coming out on top against two of the Upper Moon Demons. They are both returning for the Infinity Castle movie, and Mitsuri is the next Hashira in the spotlight.

Mitsuri Storms the Infinity Castle in New Demon Slayer Promo

The new Mitsuri promo is part of the 100 Days to Infinity Castle campaign (as we at ComicBook have unofficially dubbed it). The film releases in Japanese theaters on July 18th, and the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account has updated fans daily with new promos and behind-the-scenes shots with the film’s cast.

Today’s promo gives Mitsuri a new character poster for the Infinity Castle movie. While the Love Hashira is often very smiley and bubbly, she’s not messing around in the photo. Holding her sword back, ready to swing, Mitsuri’s iconic pink and green hair and her white jacket wave around her as she gets ready to unleash a swing with her flexible sword/whip.

Mitsuri’s poster marks 62 days until Infinity Castle is released in Japanese theaters. Rengoku, the last Hashira to feature in the campaign, was given almost a week of promos building up to Mugen Train‘s re-release. Thankfully, Demon Slayer is back to diversifying the character slate, as the rest of the Hashira will soon receive the attention they deserve.

Infinity Castle Could Break an Anime Box Office Record

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle is the most anticipated anime movie of the year. As well as having the weight of the Demon Slayer fandom carrying it forward, fans are also hoping that the movie can make up for the underwhelming past two seasons of the series. Demon Slayer already has an incredible track record at the box office. Mugen Train, released in 2020, is the highest grossing anime movie of all-time, earning over $507 million worldwide. But, Infinity Castle is expected to obliterate that record. We’re still nearly two months away from early box office predictions and projections, but fans have high hopes for the film.

Infinity Castle is also the first in a new trilogy of Demon Slayer films that will bring the franchise to an end. If this year’s movie is successful, both critically and commercially, the subsequent two films are expected to push Demon Slayer‘s box office triumph further than ever before.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will begin taking over theaters around the world later this Summer, and it’s getting the Snake Hashira ready for what’s next with a new look at Obanai Iguro ahead of the new movie’s premiere. Demon Slayer is coming back to theaters around the world with a new feature film trilogy adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. This arc features the final battles between the Hashira and Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Ranks, and that means some intense sequences are coming to the anime before the film trilogy all comes to an end.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be releasing the first of this new trilogy in Japan later this July, and has been preparing for its release with a multi-day countdown that’s come with special new reveals pretty much everyday in anticipation of the new movie. This includes some new looks at each of the members of the Hashira as they are thrown into the fights, and the newest poster for the upcoming trilogy has dropped a closer look at the Snake Hashira, Obanai Iguro. Check it out below:

ufotable

What Is Iguro’s Role in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be releasing the first film in its new trilogy this July, but it’s hard to predict just how much of the series it will cover when it finally hits. While this is going to be a huge trilogy tackling the final battles, it’s also adapting an arc that’s around 44 chapters in full (as it started around Chapter 140 of the manga). If it’s truly going to be the anime’s grand finale, then it will likely include the final 22 chapters of the series as well. Which means that for this first film, it’s likely going to cover a lot of ground for the characters when it hits.

Iguro was one of the many Hashira that spent some time training during the events of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, but fans have not gotten a lot of time spent with the character himself. You can catch up with the first four seasons of Demon Slayer streaming with Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll and more in the meantime to get your bearings for the kinds of big experience that’s coming fans’ way with the new film trilogy. It’s just a matter of seeing who actually survives until the end.

Demon Slayer Mugen Train Rengoku anime

The theatrical re-release of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train isn’t just content with setting your heart ablaze, as the latest promos in the 100 days to Infinity Castle series see Rengoku taking over entire movie theaters. Mugen Train is back in theaters this month as part of the build-up to Infinity Castle‘s release (in stunning 4K, no less), and the newest promo for the film is wild.

We anime fans are known for being a little bit over the top. To accommodate our passion, select Japanese theaters are holding special “cheer screenings,” where fans are encouraged to cheer along, respond to the characters on screen, wave glowsticks, and indulge in all forms of anime-based shenanigans. But even “cheer screenings” have their limits, and Rengoku is here to remind audiences of the etiquette of movie theaters.

Rengoku Teaches Us Movie Theater Etiquette

Aniplex has released a new Mugen Train promo which includes Rengoku walking audiences through what is and isn’t acceptable in the cheer screenings. There’s no problem with talking out loud, please speak up and support us,” Rengoku says towards the start of the video as the Fire Hashira begins to list off other acceptable things to do in the special screenings.

Along with cheering uncontrollably, fans in the cheer screenings can also bring in glowsticks and candles (which sounds like a fire hazard waiting to happen). “It would be encouraging if you could support me with your actions,” Rengoku says as he tows the line between fan support and straight-up arson — he is the Fire Hashira, after all.

But the cheer screenings have their limitations. Live flames might be acceptable, but you’d better not wear anything flammable, as cosplay is banned in the screenings. “Please be aware that making noise with costumes or standing up during the screening will be a nuisance to others,” he continued. “Cosplay is prohibited. Therefore, please refrain from changing clothes in toilets.”

Last but not least, even Muzan himself wouldn’t spoil a movie for someone else. Despite Mugen Train being released back in 2020, and that almost everyone in the cheer screenings will probably be hardcore fans, Rengoku still asks that fans do not spoil anything before the screenings start. “Please be considerate and refrain from giving away spoilers, as some people may be seeing the movie for the first time.

Along with the video, the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account shared a photo of one screening room that will be used for the cheer screenings. Rengoku had better be your favorite Hashira because the character and his iconic yellow hair have been printed onto every seat in the theater. Check it out below…

Mugen Train’s Re-Release Comes With a Special Gift for Rengoku Fans

If getting the chance to literally scream “Set your heart ablaze!” at the screen wasn’t enough of a treat, those who attend the cheer screenings will also leave with an exclusive gift. The Rengoku Vol. 0 -Revival- booklet was first given out in 2020 during select screenings of Mugen Train. The booklet has now been given a new cover showing Rengoku battling Akaza.

The booklet contains the Rengoku Vol. 0 manga, character introductions, and interviews with the cast of the movie. The cheer screenings will begin in Japan on May 18th. You’ve only got two days left to book your flights!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is coming back to theaters with the first film in a new trilogy coming later this Summer, but it turns out that the entire Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy might be closer to its release than you think thanks to a new update from one of its stars. Following the end of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, it was announced that the anime would be returning to theaters with a brand new trilogy adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. Now the first of these films is coming to theaters later this Summer.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will begin its new film trilogy with a new film hitting first in Japan later this July, but has yet to reveal the release dates or windows for the final two films of the trilogy. But these new films could be hitting much sooner than we all expect as Tanjiro Kamado voice star Natsuki Hanae revealed during a recent Mugen Train screening event (as reported by Oricon) that recording for the arc has already wrapped.

Demon Slayer Movie Trilogy Gets Major Update

In a recent screening event for Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train‘s return to theaters to help hype up the new trilogy’s debut, Hanae was in attendance and revealed that recording for the Infinity Castle arc has all wrapped up. In the report it’s not quite clear if it meant that Hanae’s recording alone has wrapped, or if it’s just referring to the first film, but it seems like the trilogy as a whole has come one step closer to its release. And if that’s the case, then fans are in for a treat considering how tricky of a release this is going to be overall.

Hanae teased that the entire cast is ready for what’s to come in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, “We’re all extremely fired up for the final battle” and further noted that “It’s truly something incredible.” The trilogy needs to really hit all together at once in order to keep up its momentum, and the fact that recording for it all seems to have wrapped is a good sign that there likely won’t be a long wait in between each of the releases. Which will be the best case scenario for Demon Slayer fans.

When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Come Out?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be launching the first film in its new trilogy theaters across Japan on July 18th, and will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada beginning on September 12th. The trilogy itself is going to be one to watch as its release schedule is going to be very important to its success. In order to keep the hype going for all three films, then they really do need to launch as closely as together as they possibly can.

Not only does this trilogy carry some major events bringing the Demon Slayer anime closer to its finale than ever, but they are going to release across various international territories at very different times. Spoilers for each film are pretty much going to be rampant, and that’s going to be a hard period to navigate as the wait between each one kicks in. If there’s more than a year worth of waiting in between each film, then it’s going to impact the potential enjoyment fans might have before it all ends. Let’s just hope they all hit as fast as they possibly can without harming those behind the scenes too much.

We’re slicing closer and closer to the release date for Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle, and the promotional campaign is slowly being amped up. Over the past few weeks, the official Demon Slayer social media accounts have been overburdened with daily posters and teasers for the film. The beloved Mugen Train Arc movie is also heading back to theaters, with an exclusive new trailer for Infinity Castle. As you might expect in the age of the internet, some fans have attempted to secretly record and share the trailer online. But Sony Pictures and Crunchyroll are cracking down hard on anyone who tries to spoil the exclusivity of the trailer.

The new Infinity Castle arc movie trailer has already leaked online once, thanks to ongoing Mugen Train Arc screenings in Japan. But, those leaks were swiftly taken down, and (*Smokey the Bear voice*) Demon Slayer wants you to know that only you can prevent internet piracy.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle
Ufotable

Following the leaks, the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account issued a stern warning against anyone else who attempts to leak the trailer online. “A secretly recorded video of the theater-exclusive trailer for the Infinity Castle Arc that plays at the end of the main feature of the currently-showing revival screening of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train has been found on the internet,” began the lengthy post.

It continued, “Filming secretly in a theater is a crime under the Law for Prevention of Unauthorized Recording of Films. In addition, uploading secretly recorded footage to X, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, etc., is a copyright infringement. Any infringement of copyright infringement in violation of the Film Piracy Prevention Act and the Copyright Act may be punished with imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of up to 10 million yen, or both.”

We like Demon Slayer as much as the next person, but not enough to risk 10 years behind bars.

Infinity Castle Releases This September

While the new trailer is a Mugen Train Arc exclusive, it likely won’t remain that way for long. Once the film has finished its theatrical re-release, the trailer will likely be shared online for everyone else to see (without a potential criminal charge). Western fans also don’t have long to wait before we can watch the new trailer in theaters. The Mugen Train Arc movie returns to select US theaters on May 14th.

As for the Infinity Castle movie, we still have a little longer to wait. The film releases on July 18th in Japan. US fans then have to remain spoiler-free until September 12th, when the film releases in North American theaters. The film is the first in a new cinematic trilogy that will bring the beloved Demon Slayer anime franchise to a close. No potential release dates for the subsequent two Demon Slayer movies have been revealed yet.

Demon Slayer Rengoku Mugen Train Arc movie

The highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film is still months away, promising some of the best fights in the show. Demon Slayer’s latest season ends on a major cliffhanger as the Hashiras and the other Demon Slayers are pulled inside the Infinity Castle for a final conflict against the Upper Moons and Muzan Kibutsuji. Following the glorious success of the Infinity Train film, the studio decided to release a trilogy for the final arc. The trilogy is also expected to adapt the Sunrise Showdown Arc of the manga, where the Demon Slayers fight against their strongest enemy.

However, before the Infinity Castle film’s release, Ufotable is bringing back the Mugen Train movie to the theaters, which is around the same time as Kyōjurō Rengoku’s birthday. Rengoku had a major role to play in the Infinity Train Arc, and his fight with Akaza is still considered one of the best in the show. His bravery and sacrifice made him one of the fan-favorite characters. Since the Infinity Train Arc is being released in Japan on May 8th, 2025, all the attendees will get a special Kyōjurō Rengoku Birthday Card; unfortunately, the offer is exclusive to Japanese theaters. According to the official account on X, the Infinity Train film will be shown in theaters for five weeks. Additionally, the film is being re-released on May 14th in the U.S., Canada, as well as selected international territories.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Train Film Is the Highest-Grossing Anime Film of All Time

Ufotable is known for its stellar animation, fluid scenes, and incredible fight choreography, but there’s more to the series’ success than that. Demon Slayer isn’t popular in Japan just for its spectacular story, but also because it’s brimming with Japanese culture and folklore. After the anime adaptation was released, the show became a global hit. The Infinity Train film, which was released in 2020, is still the highest-grossing anime film of all time with over 500 million dollars worldwide gross, breaking the record of Studio Ghibli’s classic Spirited Away, which previously held the record.

Rengoku Akaza

The arc focuses on Rengoku’s mission, where he is sent alone to eliminate a demon causing the disappearance of passengers. Tanjiro and his friends join him later on and lend him a hand. An Upper Moon Six demon with a strange Blood Demon Art was the culprit. While the Demon Slayers were able to defeat the demon, things turned for the worse when an Upper Moon Two showed up. Tanjiro and the others were in no position to fight, nor were they strong enough to defeat Akaza either.

Additionally, while the Hashiras had defeated the Twelve Kizuki before, none of them were strong enough to fight against the Upper Moons. Even so, Rengoku stood his ground and prioritized the people’s safety. He completed his mission without even a single casualty, a rare feat in the world of Demon Slayer. According to the official website, the re-release of the films outside of Japan will include both subbed and dubbed versions, and tickets have been on sale since April 30th.

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump announced plans to enact 100% tariffs on films produced outside of the United States, and this could mean trouble for anime’s growth in theaters in the country. Anime fans have likely noticed that in the last few years, the medium has gotten more popular than ever before. Thanks to the success of releases like Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train back in 2020, the popularity of anime licensing has been driven to new heights. This was a big deal during the onset of the COVID pandemic, and has yet to yield in the years since.

Anime feature films have increased in popularity to such a notable degree that not only are more of them becoming available to screen in theaters than ever before, but they are being released at a much faster rate. Gone are the days of waiting over a year for an anime feature film to release on home media, and the days of limited screenings for these films are becoming far less common as well. But if the tariff plan truly goes into effect in the United States, it could mean all those advancements would take a huge step backward.

ufotable

What Does Trump’s Tariff Plan Mean for Anime Movies?

As of Trump’s announcement on social media, the plan is to enact 100% tariffs on movies produced outside of the United States in order to promote more production in the country. This has yet to be clarified as to how this would be enforced, however, as it is also unclear as to what part of the movie’s production would actually be hit by the tariff. It seems to be focused on any part of the production that’s done outside of the United States for now, and unfortunately that also includes anime feature films that are done entirely in Japan.

If the tariff plan for films act in the same way that usual tariffs do on other aspects of imports to the United States, it might mean that an anime film will become doubly as expensive to license and release than it was before. If this turns out to be the case, it means that some films will be less enticing to release in theaters in the United States at all. Outside of major franchises already set for release like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, it might be more prudent for those hit by the tariffs to be more selective.

It further depends on who is the most impacted by the tariffs as that will likely be further impacting what anime films get a chance to release in the United States. It’s gone to such a scale recently that even some licensors like GKIDS are able to screen early episodes of TV anime releases in theaters to help celebrate their upcoming premieres, but if even these are impacted by tariffs they could be a thing of the past. And speaking of GKIDS, they could be hit in negative ways by this as well.

GKIDS / Studio Ghibli

What Does This Mean for Studio Ghibli and Godzilla Films?

Depending on how these work, anime films will be more costly to release in the United States so there will be less of a chance that smaller films could hit theaters in a more than limited capacity. This includes even new films from hit studios like Studio Ghibli and Studio Chizu (of which Mamoru Hosoda has a new film hitting later this year), which were already going to need the support from fans. If they get harder to release, it might mean that fans in the United States won’t be able to see them until they get a home media release.

But that’s also if these new tariffs don’t impact home media releases either. If this extends to every aspect of a production outside of the United States, home media releases might be much more expensive as well. There are still streaming options that could be in place, but films aren’t available for streaming until much longer after they end their initial run in theaters in Japan. It will be going back to the way it was before the 2020s, and there were very few of these films that actually hit theaters.

Successes in the United States of the likes of Godzilla Minus One and Studio Ghibli’s re-releases (such as the recent IMAX re-release of Princess Mononoke) have been possible thanks to the anime boom of the early 2020s, but this could be a huge step back forward in the United States. Depending on just how devastating a tariff on foreign movie production will be in the future, we could see a major change to how they’re released overall.

Following the end of the TV anime’s fourth season, Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, it was announced that the anime would be returning with a brand new trilogy of feature films adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. Hitting theaters throughout the world beginning later this Summer, we’re about to see more of these new movies than ever before in the coming months.

This includes the first actual footage of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle in motion, but fans will be able to see it soon. The first teaser sneak peek at the new film has been announced to be releasing with the upcoming re-release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train in theaters on May 14th. So fans who head to the theaters to see the older movie on the big screen will also be treated to an exclusive sneak peek at what’s coming next in Infinity Castle. So it might be more imperative for you to get your tickets for the movie event.

New Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Sneak Peek Coming Soon

According to the announcement from Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, this new sneak peek at Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be exclusive to the re-release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train in theaters, so it’s another reason why fans might be excited to see Demon Slayer again on the big screen. This re-release will also be the first time the film will be screened in 4K resolution, so it’s just stacking on reasons to seek it out. It’s also yet to be revealed if this teaser will release online following its theatrical debut either, so this might actually be the only way to see the new teaser.

It was announced that screenings of Mugen Train’s re-release in Japan would be including a sneak peek at Infinity Castle like this, so it’s great news to see that fans in the United States and Canada will get the same opportunity. This will be the first real look at Infinity Castle as when it was announced, there were only teases of a few still images from the now in the works trilogy. So it’s going to be the first in-motion footage for what’s coming next.

As for what this new film will be about when it actually hits, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is teased as such, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is now in the works on returning for a new Infinity Castle movie trilogy, and the anime is getting fans ready with a new look at Muichiro Tokito ahead of its debut. Demon Slayer ended the fourth season of the TV anime with the announcement that it was going to continue with not a new season as fans had expected, not with a new movie, but with a whole trilogy of new movies adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. As it gets ready to hit theaters later this year, it’s now time to prepare for the final battles to come.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be hitting theaters with the first movie in this new trilogy starting in Japan later this Summer, and it will feature the final fights between the surviving Hashira and Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Rank demons. This naturally includes the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, who’s about to take a new starring role after the events of the Swordsman Village Arc back in Season 3, and you can check out a new poster showing off Muichiro ahead of the new movie below.

ufotable

What Is Muichiro’s Role in New Demon Slayer Movie?

Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc gave fans a much better look at the Mist Hashira as Muichiro pushed himself to a new level against a powerful opponent, and he was one of the few fighters along with Tanjiro that unlocked their full Demon Slayer mark. Unlocking this power is why he and the other Hashira were training during the events of the Hashira Training arc, but he’ll be coming back to the spotlight as he readies to take on yet another powerful opponent in the new movies.

Each member of the Hashira ends up in a final battle against one of the Upper Rank, and all of these fights are explored through the duration of the massive arc from Gotoge’s original manga. Not every member of the Hashira makes it out alive, however, so fans are going to want to watch each of these movies very closely to see what comes from Muichiro and the others when they are thrown into their respective fights. Separated from one another through the titular Infinity Castle, it’s now time to put their skills to a very real test.

Tengen also memorably has three wives, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru. He would officially retire from the Demon Slayer Corps at the end of the Entertainment District Arc.

Tengen would be given a redesign after leaving the corps, letting his hair go down and wearing a new eyepatch. Despite retiring, Tengen remains part of the supporting cast and is featured in the promotional material for Infinity Castle. The new Tengen-focused promo for Infinity Castle is part of a matching set with the other Hashira released by Aniplex and Ufotable. The promo is also part of the 100-day countdown toward the Japanese release of the film, which is scheduled for July 18th, 2025. Meanwhile, the film will release in the United States and Canada on September 12th. The movie will be the first part of a trilogy that will cover the Infinity Castle arc from the manga.

Will Demon Slayer: The Movie: Infinity Castle Surpass Mugen Train?

Demon Slayer is one of the most popular and financially successful anime franchises currently running. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train from 2020 became the highest-grossing Japanese film, smashing box office expectations and accumulating over $500 million worldwide. Mugen Train surprised overseas analysts, especially since the movie was so successful during the ongoing COVID pandemic. The film has continued to remain popular among anime fans, with 4K screenings scheduled to release in Japan and the US later this year as part of the ongoing hype for Infinity Castle.

Mugen Train‘s wild accomplishment at the global box office led to two sequels in the Demon Slayer franchise, To the Hashira Training in 2022 and To the Hashira Training in 2023. However, neither follow-up reached the same numbers as Mugen Train, with To the Swordsmith Village only making a worldwide total of $56 million, whereas To the Hashira Training only made $44.4 million. Aniplex is putting plenty of effort into marketing for Infinity Castle, including new looks at the characters and merchandise collaboration.

The company and director Haruo Sotozaki also hope to break a new Guinness World Record as part of the film’s advertisement. They are working with Gyoda City in Saitama Prefecture to create rice paddy art of Tanjiro that would span 28,000 m², surpassing the previous record set in 2015. The previous record holders were Square Enix, who did a 27,195 m² rice paddy advertising the Dragon Quest series. Aniplex and Haruo were requesting volunteers from April 7th to April 25th. With so much attention given to Infinity Castle, fans are speculating if the new film can reach the same heights as Mugen Train’s unprecedented $500 million box office run.

The Demon Slayer Corps is about to have one of the biggest adventures ever, which just so happens to be their last. The first of the film trilogy following Demon Slayer’s heroes diving headfirst into the Infinity Castle will hit Japan this summer, with the silver screen entry arriving this September in the West. To help in getting anime fans hyped for Tanjiro and his allies’ big comeback, the fashion producers at UNIQLO are preparing unique clothes so that anime fans can promote the heroes and villains that sprang from the mind of Koyoharo Gotouge.

UNIQLO has collaborated with some of the biggest names in anime, including Dragon Ball, Gundam, Dandadan, One Piece, Berserk, Jujutsu Kaisen, and more. While the clothing producers have teamed up with Demon Slayer in the past, this new crossover will focus entirely on the Infinity Castle arrival this summer. Here’s how UNIQLO describes the anime crossover, “The eye-catching illustration from the anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” by Koyoharu Gotouge and animation by ufotable is now available on a T-shirt. The story begins with the protagonist Tanjiro Kamado joining the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back into a human. The heartbreaking story of humans and demons, the terrifying swordplay, and the occasional comical scenes have made the series popular around the world. The latest film, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle Arc,” Chapter 1, will be released on July 18, 2025.”

What Lies Within The Infinity Castle?

Demon Slayer’s season four finale saw Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps dragged into the headquarters of Muzan and his demonic lieutenants. Ending on quite the cliffhanger, the past episode saw the Hashira trying their best to defeat the demon lord but coming up short. Thanks to his longevity as a demon, Muzan can seemingly only be killed by the sun, meaning that traditional methods of taking down demons won’t work against the big bad of the series.

Ending Demon Slayer with a film trilogy makes sense considering how good the shonen series has been when it comes to box office profits. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train remains the biggest anime film of all time, pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars. The movie will actually be returning to theaters prior to the Infinity Castle, letting fans once again experience the fight on the demonic locomotive once again.

Demon Slayer’s Grand Finale

The anime adaptation has been playing catch-up with the manga as creator Koyoharu Gotouge ended Demon Slayer with its final chapter in 2020. Ever since the conclusion, the mangaka hasn’t hinted at a sequel and/or spin-off series, meaning that once the anime catches up to the source material, it might be the definitive finale for the Demon Slayer Corps. Even if Tanjiro’s story is finished, the legacy of Demon Slayer will remain for quite some time.

The countdown to the final installments in the Demon Slayer anime adaptation continues, and the official X (formerly Twitter) account promoting the series isn’t slowing down with their special promotional illustrations to hype up the Infinity Castle trilogy. Their latest illustration features an absolutely gorgeous illustration of Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, against a reddish beige background that perfectly fits the glimpse of Muzan’s Infinity Castle that was teased at the end of Season 4 and in the trailers for the first film. While he isn’t beloved among his fellow Hashira, Giyu is a fan-favorite, and has consistently ranked highly in popularity polls for the manga. That said, his inclusion in these promo illustrations shouldn’t be a huge surprise for fans.

Giyu’s place in the overarching story of Demon Slayer is critical to its final arc, too. Initially introduced in the first chapter of the manga, Giyu is a seemingly stoic young man who, despite allowing Nezuko to live after meeting the Kamado siblings, is a ruthless demon slayer. Of course, thanks to his early introduction to the series and the impact he’s had teaching Tanjiro how to fight demons, Giyu is given a surprising amount of development compared to some of the other Hashira featured throughout the series, and becomes a core part of Nezuko and Tanjiro’s journey despite his in-universe reputation.

Demon Slayer‘s Hashira Play a Key Role In the Series’ Narrative For More Than Just Their Strength

While Demon Slayer is a relatively short series compared to other Shonen Jump giants, one of its strongest selling points is how well it balances such a large supporting cast of characters – many of which are only featured in isolated story arcs. Obviously, one of the best examples of this is Rengoku, the Flame Hashira who was spotlighted in the Mugen Train arc of the series. Narratively, Rengoku’s status as the Flame Hashira hinted at his heroically tragic fate, going out in a literal blaze of glory when facing off against Akaza, an Upper Rank Three demon. Despite the character only really being prevalent for a single arc, his death left a lasting impact on the story. Not only did his sacrifice embolden Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke to truly begin taking their jobs as demon slayers seriously, but it also sent a disruptive wave through the rest of the Hashira.

The other Hashira are treated similarly throughout the story, and while not all of them get a “blaze of glory” moment like what Rengoku had, they are each given a moment in the spotlight to help push Tanjiro forward in his quest to defeat Muzan. It’s an interesting use of a fairly common character trope seen in shonen anime, wherein there’s an elite group of supporting characters that act as mentors or rivals to the protagonist. Tanjiro, and especially his sister, Nezuko, are seen as underdogs throughout much of demon slayers story, with Tanjiro’s mission to avenge his family and turn his sister back into a human being viewed as frivolous by the people around him. However, the Hashira’s presence in the story and their willingness to hear out Tanjiro’s plight to save his sister, coupled with each of them receiving their time in the spotlight to explore the why and how their unique fighting styles make each of them extremely compelling and lovable to fans.

What Is Demon Slayer: Mugen Train?

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki for ufotable, and distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train was a huge event when it first hit theaters many years ago. It was a game changer for the overall anime landscape as it capitalized on the recent explosion of popularity of Demon Slayer’s TV anime at the time, and took it to a whole new kind of level as it exploded in theaters. It was at the time one of the most financially successful anime films of all time as a result of this box office success too, and now many more fans will get their chance to see it on the big screen.

Demon Slayer has gained a lot more fans since Mugen Train first hit theaters as well, and there is a much different world surrounding theaters than back then too. If you missed your chance to see it the first time, this is now the best way to experience the film first hand. It’s teased as such, “In a world riddled with demons, a young man, Tanjiro Kamado, and his comrades investigate the disappearance of passengers aboard a mysterious train as members of the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization dedicated to protecting humanity. With the help of a powerful ally, these Demon Slayers must confront evil in a heroic battle to bring an end to the nightmare!”

The release windows and dates for the second and third films have yet to be announced as of the time of this publication.

As for what this new film will be aboutDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is teased as such, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is gearing up to return to theaters with a brand new trilogy of films, and this new trilogy is getting ready with a new look at Genya Shinazugawa ahead of the new movie’s premiere. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is a new planned trilogy of feature films adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. Picking up from the end of the Hashira Training arc seen in the TV anime series, this new trilogy will be pitting Tanjiro Kamado and the others against Muzan Kibutsuji’s final (and strongest) demonic forces.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will feature key battles between Tanjiro’s Demon Slayer allies against the Upper Ranks, and one of those thrown into the chaos is Genya. Although he might not have been participating in all of the training that the Hashira and others were in during Season 4, he was one of the fighters across Japan who were seen pulled into the Infinity Castle at the end of the season. As he readies for a fight, you can check out a new poster for his role in the movies below.

ufotable

What Will Genya Do in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?

The coolest part of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the fact that it will be adapting the longest single arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga overall. It’s yet to be revealed how it will be spread across the three different films, but each of the films will be filled with fights that fans have been hoping to see for quite a while. As each of the TV anime’s seasons have proven so far, there’s no guarantee that any character will walk away from their fights alive, so that means the stakes are going to be very high almost immediately.

That’s going to be Genya’s place in the arc, unfortunately. As a character who’s able to take on demonic traits by eating them, he’s someone who’s going to play a huge role in how one of the fights will play out. But his ability also means that he can’t quite fight on the same level as the others. It means he’s going to need to think smart about how he handles his fight, and it’s going to be one that fans will really need to keep an eye on when it all goes down.

When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Come Out?

Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment (outside of Japan), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will first be hitting theaters across Japan on July 18th, and will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada beginning on September 12th (and will also be available in IMAX and premium movie formats) This is going to be the first movie in a planned trilogy of new releases, but the release windows for the other two films have yet to be announced as of the time of this publication.

As for what this new film will be about, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is teased as such, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. Demon Slayer Best Fights

Written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, the story of Demon Slayer follows the heartbreaking tale of siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado. After losing his entire family overnight and watching his sister turn into a demon, Tanjiro swears to hunt down the one responsible for the tragedy while simultaneously looking for a way to cure Nezuko. The story follows his struggles as he trains relentlessly to become stronger and joins the Demon Slayer Corps. Each mission he gets while working as a full-fledged Demon Slayer brings him one step closer to curing his sister, but the risks are far too high.

Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon progenitor, gives some of his blood to 12 demons with great potential and calls them the Twelve Kizuki, a group divided between Upper and Lower Moons. Each Kizuki is insanely powerful, but the difference between Upper and Lower ranks varies significantly. However, that’s not the only thing that makes Demon Slayer fights intriguing. Each battle isn’t bound by just good vs. evil; it’s layered with personal trauma, loss, and empathy. Fans are awaiting the upcoming Infinity Castle Arc trilogy movies, the final showdown between the Demon Slayers and the demons. It will also include some of the best fights in the story.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga!

Tanjiro vs. Enmu

Demon Slayer Tanjiro Enmu
Ufotable

Although the fight against Enmu was a combined team effort, Tanjiro was solely responsible for taking out the demon while the others focused on rescue. Rengoku ensured that none of the passengers died, fulfilling the major objective of his mission. Meanwhile, Zenitsu saved Nezuko, and Inosuke opened the engine so Tanjiro could easily spot the main body. However, Enmu, as a Lower Moon Six, wasn’t merely powerful, but his Blood Demon Art was insanely tricky. He can put his targets into a deep sleep and manipulate their dreams. The dreams can be horrific to traumatize the target, or they can be so pleasant that one would never want to wake up from them.

In Tanjiro’s case, it was the latter, and it was more brutal than any nightmare because he kept seeing the happy memories he shared with his deceased mother and siblings. However, when he realized that it was all fake, Tanjiro slashed his own throat in the dream so he could wake up. Enmu kept repeating the same trick while the Demon Slayer kept slashing his neck. After several rounds of this immense torture, Tanjiro finally severed Enmu’s head.

Rengoku vs. Akaza

Rengoku Akaza
Ufotable

Rengoku was only around for one arc and fought one major battle, but that was more than enough to make him a fan-favorite character. After Enmu’s death, the threat should’ve been over. Tanjiro and the others were either injured or exhausted by the time Rengoku caught up with them. However, no one expected Akaza, an Upper Three demon, to just show up out of nowhere. Of course, as a Hashira, Rengoku didn’t waste a second before jumping into the fight while also stopping the young Demon Slayers from interfering.

Without an ally to lend him a hand or a Demon Slayer Mark, Rengoku put up an excellent fight against Akaza. Akaza loves fighting more than anything, and he recognizes Rengoku’s talent before offering him to become a demon. It’s only natural that someone as honorable as a Hashira would refuse such an offer. However, Rengoku paid the price with his life, breaking the hearts of Tanjiro and his friends. His death was a major lesson they needed to grow stronger while also honoring his memory.

Uzui and Tanjiro vs. Gyutaro

Demon Slayer Uzui Gyutaro
Ufotable

Most of the Entertainment District Arc set up Daki as the main villain and the Upper Moon Six. So, it was quite shocking that Gyutaro is not only the real Upper Moon, but also significantly stronger than his sister. Tanjiro and Uzui join hands to deal with Gyutaro while Zenitsu and Inosuke fight Daki. The siblings share their powers, so their heads must be severed at the same time. The fight in the anime is not only visually stunning but also highlights how the Demon Slayers push past their limits to defeat the strongest opponent they have ever faced.

The fight was historic, to say the least. Gyutaro’s defeat didn’t come easily, it cost Uzui’s eye and hand while destroying the majority of the Entertainment District. However, the Demon Slayers also managed to achieve a feat that the Corps hasn’t done in over a hundred years. This was the breakthrough they desperately needed, before the final fight against Muzan.

Muichiro vs. Gyokko

Muichiro Tokito
Ufotable

While defeating Gyutaro with a team effort was an impressive feat, Muichiro killing Gyokko, an Upper Moon Five, all by himself, is something that never happened in the series. All of the powerful demons, especially the Upper Moons, were practically undefeatable, but Muichiro is just that special. As a direct descendant of the Sun Breathing Style, Muichiro was already talented enough to become a Hashira at the age of 14. Initially, he did have trouble fighting the demon, but being in a near-death situation helped him gain back his memories. Muichiro remembers his family and the tragic demon attack that took his brother’s life and almost killed him as well.

Once the fog in his mind cleared, Muichiro tapped into his true potential and manifested a Demon Slayer Mark, a lost technique that was quite common in the golden age of Demon Slayers. After unlocking his true powers, Muichiro easily defeated Gyokko, with astounding strength and speed that made an Upper Five look like an ordinary demon.

Shinobu Kocho vs. Doma

Demon Slayer Shinobu Infinity Castle
Shueisha

As a Hashira, it’s Shinobu’s duty to defeat any demon that comes her way. However, fighting Doma wasn’t merely because of that, but she had a personal reason for that. Her sister, Kanae, was killed by the same diabolical demon. As an Upper Rank Two, it was nearly impossible to defeat him by pure strength, especially when she lacked the physical strength to even sever the neck of ordinary demons. Hence, Shinobu made preparations for years by injecting herself with poison that is only harmful to demons.

She was fueled by rage when she saw the obnoxious demon, which only strengthened her resolve. As she expected, Doma swallowed her whole without knowing she was the very poison that would lead to his demise. Although Doma didn’t die right away, Shinobu weakened him just enough for her younger sister to deal the final blow.

Zenitsu vs. Kaigaku

Zenitsu Kaigaku
Shueisha

Zenitsu received a crucial letter at the end of the Hashira Training Arc, and he has never been the same since then. The Infinity Castle Arc reveals that it’s because his master committed Seppuku to atone for the sins of his student Kaigaku, who willingly became a demon. Zenitsu and Kaigaku learned under the same master but never really got along. Kaigaku was a prodigy who mastered all forms of the Thunder Breathing Style except for the first one. Meanwhile, Zenitsu could only hone his skill in the first form, which is said to be the most difficult form of Thunder Breathing.

After being pulled into the Infinity Castle, Zenitsu comes face to face with Kaigaku, the new Upper Moon Six. It’s his first fight where he stares right into his opponent instead of sleeping out of fear. Since the first form wasn’t enough to defeat his enemy, Zenitsu creates his own, the Seventh Form of Thunder Breathing, and severs Kaigaku’s head in one strike. Up until his last moments, Kaigaku remained an arrogant and unbearable being who refused to accept his weakness. On the other hand, this fight was a major milestone for Zentisu, who had come a long way from being a weakling who used to cry at the sight of demons to being capable enough to create his own breathing form.

Giyu and Tanjiro vs. Akaza

Akaza Demon Slayer
Shueisha

Giyu is the first Demon Slayer Tanjiro met, and he’s the one who set the young on the path to becoming one of them. The two of them always had a special bond, but we finally got to see their teamwork in the Infinity Castle Arc. Giyu and Tanjiro worked together to defeat Akaza, Upper Moon Three. Akaza proved quite a challenge for those two, even with Giyu’s Demon Slayer Mark manifesting during the battle. Not only that, but Tanjiro gained the ability to see the Transparent World, which is a heightened perception ability awakened by a special mark on his forehead. In that moment, he also managed to reduce his presence, which caught someone as perceptive as Akaza off guard.

The fight also revealed Akaza’s heartbreaking backstory. Even after Tanjiro severed his head, Akaza kept on fighting and was about to launch a devastating attack. However, he stopped midway and embraced his humanity and acknowledged Tanjiro’s magnificent technique, and expressed gratitude for being reminded of his past. As his body disintegrates, he accepts his past, his regrets, and the fact that he wants to die as a human, not live forever as a demon.

Kanao and Inosuke vs. Doma

Demon Slayer Doma
Shueisha

The Infinity Castle Arc finally reveals the conversation between Shinobu and Kanao during the Hashira Training Arc. Shinobu knew the special power of Kanao’s eyes, which grants her exceptional enhanced vision abilities, allowing her to predict her opponent’s movements and attacks. Kanao couldn’t do anything to stop her sister from sacrificing herself, and even witnessed her death. Amid the fight, Inosuke also lends her a hand as he gains back a long-forgotten memory. His mother, whom he lost as a newborn baby, died because of Doma.

Even with Shinobu’s poison, the young Demon Slayers put their lives on the line to kill the monster. Doma also acknowledges their strength, even going as far as saying Kanao is more skilled than Shinobu, a Hashira. Kanao’s precision and calmness contrast heavily with Inosuke’s wild and unconventional fighting method. Furthermore, we also learn more about the Upper Moon Two, who didn’t have much of a role before this fight. Unlike other demons, he doesn’t have a tragic backstory, and his personality is just as horrifying as his abilities, but that’s what truly makes him intriguing as a demon.

Muichiro, Genya, Sanemi, and Gyomei vs. Kokushibo

Demon Slayer Kokushibo
Shueisha

Defeating any of the Upper Moons is a nearly impossible task, but no one gave the Demon Slayers as much trouble as Kokushibo, the strongest of the Twelve Kizuki. Kokushibo is the older twin brother of Yoriichi, the legendary Demon Slayer who invented the breathing styles. In the Infinity Castle, several Corps members joined hands to defeat Kokushibo, but it was far from easy. It wasn’t just the battle, but we witnessed the heartbreaking confession by Sanemi, who pushed his younger brother away so the latter could lead a happy life.

Additionally, the series also unveiled Kokushibo’s backstory and how he ended up dying after living a life full of regrets. However, even though Gyomei and Sanemi manifested their Demon Slayer Marks during the battle, the price of defeating the demon was far too great. Kokushibo’s death was a result of Muichiro’s and Genya’s sacrifices, and Gyomei suffered the lingering effects of manifesting his mark, which took his life before the conclusion.

Demon Slayers vs. Muzan in Sunrise Showdown Arc

Demon Slayer Muzan Final Arc
Shueisha

The Demon Slayers had the opportunity to jump on Muzan two times. The first time was when Muzan arrived at the Ubuyashiki manor. That was when Tamayo injected him with a poison and severely weakened him. However, before the Demon Slayers could kill the monster, they were pulled into the Infinity Castle and forced to fight the Upper Moons. This resulted in a lot of casualties, but once all the Upper Ranks were defeated, the surviving members of the Corps challenged Muzan once again.

Severing his head, even in a weakened state, wasn’t possible for them, so all they had to do was keep him occupied till the sun rises. Unfortunately, that’s a lot easier said than done. Even with the combined efforts, the Corps continued to suffer several casualties until Muzan disintegrated into the dust.

Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is all set to be the first installment of a three-part film series adapting Demon Slayer’s climactic Infinity Castle arc and is slated to premiere in Japan on July 18th. Unfortunately for fans outside Japan, however, the movie will not be simulcasting around the world. U.S. fans in particular will have to wait nearly two months to see the movie on the big screen, on September 12th. However, some other countries have been luckier with shorter wait times

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable alongside Aniplex, Infinity Castle promises high‑stakes swordplay, emotional payoffs, and Muzan’s ultimate showdown within the shifting labyrinth of Nakime’s Infinity Fortress. With less than 100 days left until the movie’s release, the franchise has been hyping things up with daily posts on their official X account, @kimetsu_off. And now, they’re taking things further than ever before with a Guinness World Record. Gyoda City in Saitama Prefecture is all set to create a rice paddy art of Demon Slayer’s Tanjiro spanning an impressive 28,000 m², which will surpass the previous record set in 2015.

Everything to Know About Demon Slayer’s Rice Paddy Art

Tanbo Art or rice paddy art is a type of Japanese art where people strategically plant different colored varieties of rice to create giant images when the rice fields are flooded in the summer. The art form was first developed by villagers from Inakadate Village in 1993. Although Gyoda City is famous for taking it to the next level with ever ambitious designs that turn its paddies into vast, pixel‑perfect canvases.

The city first snagged the Guinness World Record for the largest rice paddy artwork in 2015, covering 27,195 m² across three adjacent rice fields. This was done to mark the 30th anniversary of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest series, with the artwork depicting iconic characters from the long‑running RPG. Now, a decade later, the city is all set to break its own record with a 28,000 m² depiction of Demon Slayer’s Tanjiro Kamado.

The artwork will feature Tanjiro in a mid‑attack pose, his checkered haori and gleaming Nichirin blade springing to life in coordinated shades of green, brown, and burgundy. And to allow the art to align perfectly with Infinity Castle’s release, planting will start in early June. That way, the artwork will reach its peak colors just as the film releases on July 18th, 2025, becoming a living poster visible from late July through mid‑October.

Demon Slayer Tanjiro

Demon Slayer And Gyoda City Call For Volunteers

Since every stalk must match a detailed color map, all planting for the artwork needs done by hand under expert guidance. As such, Gyoda City is open to volunteers who are interested in rice paddy art or are fans of Demon Slayer who would like to participate in this historical moment for the franchise. There is no registration fee and no prior experience in planting rice is required. All you need are sturdy boots, weather‑appropriate clothing, and a willingness to work outdoors whether rain or shine.

The work is unpaid but as thanks, all volunteers will receive certificates and a sack of rice harvested from the art field by mail in December. If you want to register as a volunteer, you can do so here. Applications are open from April 7th to April 25th. But do note that you need to be at least Junior High School students or older in Japan to apply.

Once planted, the Tanjiro mosaic will unfold beneath the Ancient Lotus Hall observation deck, where admission is ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for children. Thousands flock there each summer to witness these living artworks in person. But for global fans or anyone unable to travel, Gyoda City’s official tourism website will host high‑resolution photos, time‑lapse videos, and behind‑the‑scenes updates of the artwork, ensuring everyone can share in this record‑setting spectacle.

The one anime film that took the world by storm and surprised theater experts is now returning to the cinemas in new pristine 4K screenings. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train opened in Japanese theaters in October 2020, at the end of the first year of the ongoing pandemic. The film instantly became a box-office smash, having the highest-grossing opening weekend in Japan with 4.6 billion yen, the equivalent of 44 million USD. The film would soon open overseas, making around $47 million at the North American box office and making over $500 million at the global box office. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train is currently the highest-grossing Japanese movie.

Crunchyroll has officially announced that new 4K screenings for Mugen Train will launch in North American cinemas on May 14th. The streaming company unveiled that the film will be available in theaters not only in the United States and Canada, yet in other international territories. Distribution for the film will be a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, and it will be released in both Japanese with English subtitles and the English dub. Fans can purchase pre-sale tickets for the motion picture on Wednesday, April 30th.

The Importance of Demon Slayer – Mugen Train

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train‘s success shouldn’t be underestimated. The motion picture opened when most people couldn’t leave their homes because of the pandemic. Despite pandemic concerns, the film opened to high numbers in its home country and found great success overseas. Demon Slayer was already one of the most popular anime airing at the time, but Mugen Train shot it up to a new level of awareness. The movie’s box office success in America, where it made $47 million in a questionable period of the pandemic, surprised analysts.

The Mugen Train‘s success led to two sequels in the Demon Slayer franchise, To the Hashira Training in 2022 and To the Hashira Training in 2023. Neither follow-up reached the same numbers as Mugen Train, with To the Swordsmith Village only making a worldwide total of $56 million, whereas To the Hashira Training only made $44.4 million. However, Mugen Train and other animated films at the box office, alongside anime’s growing streaming numbers and popularity among younger generations, are one of the attributes that have convinced companies to view the medium as a legitimate source of big profits. Many corporations now intend to invest much more capital in anime in hopes of making the medium more mainstream, with 2025 set to become the biggest year for anime yet.

The re-release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train in North American theaters arrives not long before the first film of the next trilogy of Demon Slayer films. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is scheduled to release in Japanese cinemas on July 18th, while a North American opening is set for September 12th. Infinity Castle will be adapting the arc of the same name from the manga, and it will be the first film in a trilogy, acting as the first act of the Final Battle for the series. Sunrise Countdown Arc followed the Infinity Castle arc in the manga, serving as the last half of the Final Battle, and the end of the series.

As Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is all set for release on July 18th, 2025, fans couldn’t be more excited. But unfortunately for fans outside of Japan, that’s just the Japanese release date. Fans of the series in the United States will have to wait nearly two whole months before they can enjoy the first part of Infinity Castle on September 12th. To help fans out during this torturous wait, however, Studio Ufotable and Crunchyroll have been dropping additional content for viewers to enjoy.

Crunchyroll has added a Demon Slayer stage play and two live concerts to its already impressive catalogue and that’s not all. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train broke Spirited Away’s record the first time around domestically, and Your Name internationally, and now it’s all set to receive an even more stunning theatrical revival screening. The movie will hit Japanese theaters for five weeks starting May 9th. But fans in Japan get an additional bonus, with a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray being made available for purchase at the same time.

To Know About Demon Slayer’s 4K Blu-Ray

On Friday, May 9th, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray will be made available for sale on Aniplex Online, Ufotable, Animate, and more. According to the movie’s official website, the limited edition Blu-ray will cost ¥7,700 with tax included. The Blu-ray consists of just one disc and features barrier-free Japanese subtitles. Along with a special box, digital jacket, and a 12-page commemorative booklet. While this is clearly made with its initial Japanese release in mind, keep your eyes peeled for additional news regarding a North American localization.

The release of this Blu-ray commemorates Aniplex’s 20th anniversary. And the distributor has already promised to re-release more of its masterpieces from the past 20 years in higher quality. One such release is going to be the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for both the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training Arcs.

This limited-edition Blu-ray will be released on the same day as Mugen Train’s Blu-ray and will cost ¥14,080 with tax included. Similar to the standard edition, It consists of a two-disc set with barrier-free Japanese subtitles, a special three-sided box, digital jacket, and a 12-page booklet. Other bonuses include a Ufotable making-of animation for “Mitsuri Kanroji & Muichiro Tokito”, a short animation titled “Mitsuri’s Uniform” and a “Hashira Training Edition” special edited video “Letter from the Master.” Much like with the Mugen Train film, the details of a similar release for English-speaking audiences have yet to be confirmed.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train 4K Revival

First released in theaters in 2020, Aniplex has confirmed that Demon Slayer: Mugen Train will be back in Japanese theaters on May 9th, 2025, and keep running for a whole five weeks, the re-release ending right before Infinity Castle releases on July 18th in Japan. Even better, this revival isn’t just going to be a standard re-release. Instead, the Mugen Train Arc movie will be digitally upgraded to 4K with audio improvements.

Japanese fans will be able to enjoy the movie in three premium formats as the film releases in IMAX, in Dolby Atmos & Dolby Cinema, and in 4DX & MX4D. And this theatrical re-release isn’t an isolated case. Mugen Train’s revival is part of the “Kimetsu Theater – Demon Slayer Special Compilation Screening,” an event that’s been going on since April 4th and aims to bring all of Demon Slayer‘s current arcs to the big screen in Japan before Infinity Castle’s release to recap major events and hype up the movie.

The movie will follow the beloved plot line of Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu working with the flame Hashira, Rengoku to solve the mystery of the Mugen Train where 40 people have disappeared in a very short time. As the four slayers (and one demon girl) investigate the situation they’ll face the demon Enmu who sends his victims into a deep sleep before devouring them. The movie also marks anime-only fans’ introduction to the Upper Moon demons in the form of Akaza, a devastatingly powerful fighter who despises the weak.

Based on the hit manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer follows the story of Kamado Tanjiro. A kind-hearted village boy, Tanjiro’s life turns upside down when one day, he comes home from selling charcoal to find his entire family murdered with just one survivor, his younger sister Nezuko who is now a demon. Determined to cure his sister of her demonhood, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps where he trains to fight demons alongside other Slayers while preserving his kind nature and humanity.

By the time Demon Slayer’s manga wrapped up in 2020, it had sold over 150 million copies. Then, Studio Ufotable came along and turned the series into a global franchise with four visually stunning seasons and Mugen Train, the movie that managed to dethrone Spirited Away as Japan’s highest-grossing film of all time. Now, the franchise is ready to break its own record with its newest movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which is all set to release on July 18th, 2025, for Japanese fans. And to hype this new release up, Demon Slayer has been running a daily countdown on their official X account, @kimetsu_off.

Kanao Joins Tanjiro To Hype Up Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

With only 88 days left until Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s release, the franchise’s official X account has been hyping the movie up with a new post everyday. The latest post centers around Kanao Tsuyuri, the Flower Breathing Slayer who is also the adoptive younger sister of Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho. When fans first met Kanao, she was a quiet and indecisive girl, flipping a coin to make most of her decisions.

But after she met Tanjiro, her character underwent a subtle but powerful change, with the teenage boy encouraging her to use her heart instead of the chance of a coin flip. Now, as she commands the spotlight in Demon Slayer’s countdown’s day 89, her growth is obvious. Her expression is serious and slightly angry with no hint of timidness. She also isn’t wearing her white cloak, and without it swallowing her small frame, she looks more battle ready than ever.

demon-slayer-kanao-tsuyuri.jpg

Tanjiro also received his latest spotlight in Infinity Castle’s countdown. For day 88 out of 100, the village boy turned demon slayer hypes the franchise’s latest movie up with a standee of him in his usual green and black checkered haori over the standard Demon Slayer uniform. With a joyful expression, he carries Nezuko’s box on his back, who will most likely not be making much of an appearance in the upcoming movie. The caption of the post announces that advance tickets are available for sale at the theater box office for Japanese fans.

Everything To Know About Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Centering around Demon Slayer’s last arc, Infinity Castle will be receiving the three-part movie treatment. The first of these three movies is all set to drop in Japan on July 18th. But if any fans outside Japan were hoping for a simulcast, we have got bad news. Not only will the movie not be simulcasting, it won’t even release in the same month. Fans of the anime in the United States can expect to see the final showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan two whole months after the Japanese release date on September 12th. Although some other countries have gotten luckier with shorter wait times

After a long recap, the official synopsis of the movie reads, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Best Demon Slayer Episodes Infinity Castle

Considering the record-breaking success of Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train Movie, Ufotable decided to adapt the Infinity Castle Arc in a trilogy film. Although there has been no official confirmation yet, it’s expected that the trilogy film will also cover the Sunrise Showdown Arc. The series will feature the final fight against the Upper Moons and Muzan Kibutsuji. The Hashira Training Arc in the anime ends on a major cliffhanger as the demon slayers are pulled into the Infinity Castle, where some of the strongest demons are waiting for them. However, while the story is currently in its final stretch, we have put together a list of the ten best anime episodes so far.

Demon Slayer isn’t just known for its incredible action, emotional storyline, and intriguing characters, but also for its stellar animation. The anime is praised as one of the best adaptations in recent years, and rightfully so. From the days of Tanjiro walking on the snow with a barely alive Nezuko on his back to him fighting the Upper Rank demons, the story has come a long way. So, let’s revisit some of the best Demon Slayer episodes while we await the film’s release in May 2025 for Japanese fans and September 2025 in North America.

Season 4, Episode 2: “The Sorrows of the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka”

Demon Slayer Giyu and Tanjiro
Ufotable

Giyu is the first demon slayer that Tanjiro and Nezuko came across, and it could be said that they were lucky to encounter him instead of someone else. Any demon slayer would prefer to kill Nezuko as soon as they realized that she’s a demon. However, perhaps out of pity, he couldn’t finish her off soon, and later realized that she was different from the others. That was the beginning of the story, and he’s been a fan favorite ever since. However, until this episode, anime fans didn’t know about his inner struggles.

Giyu not only thought of himself as inadequate, but he also had to carry the guilt of his sister and best friend dying because of him. We learn about his sorrowful past and the reason he looked so gloomy, as if he were carrying a heavy burden on his shoulders. He reached his breaking point he refused to participate in the training. The head of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, despite battling death, couldn’t help but worry about him. Since he was in no shape to meet anyone, he requested that Tanjiro help the Hashira, which turned out for the best.

Tanjiro’s enthusiastic and positive personality heavily contradicts with Giyu’s, but that’s probably what the latter needed the most. Although this episode doesn’t have flashy fights, it’s meaningful enough to be considered one of the best in the series. Giyu and Tanjiro have one of the most meaningful relationships in the story, which is why this episode was more than necessary before the final fight.

Season 1, Episode 5: “My Own Steel”

Demon Slayer Hand Demon
Ufotable

After the tragic murder of his family and his fateful encounter with Giyu, Tanjiro meets Urokodaki, who taught him the Water Breathing Style to help him fight demons. However, in order to become a full-fledged demon slayer, Tanjiro must join the Demon Slayer Corps and pass the deadly final selection exam. He trained for two years before participating, and even met the ghosts of Sabito and Makomo. Before Tanjiro, almost all of Urokodaki’s students died while fighting the hand demon, who targeted them because of his grudge with Urokodaki.

However, Tanjiro defeats the monster despite its unusual appearance and incredibly thick neck. Instead of feeling resentful for the deaths of so many, Tanjiro pities the demon who held out his hand in his final moments. Tanjiro prayed that he wouldn’t become a demon in his next life as he turned into dust. Despite losing his family at the hands of demons, Tanjiro still remained kind and compassionate.

He realized that although demons kill humans, they are also, in a way, tragic creatures who had the misfortune of turning into monsters. The rest of the episode focuses on him passing the exam and getting his own nichirin sword, one with black in color, which isn’t a good omen according to legends.

Season 2, Episode 18: “No Matter How Many Lives”

Demon Slayer Season 2 Finale
Ufotable

The fight against Gyutaro and Daki in the Entertainment District Arc is still one of the best fights in the series. Defeating an Upper Moon demon is a feat that the Demon Slayer Corps hadn’t accomplished in over a hundred years before Uzui, Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko joined the fight. At first, it was clear that Daki is the Upper Moon Six, but it actually turns out to be her brother, Gyutaro. Defeating an Upper Moon without any casualties is a major win for the demon slayers, but a lot of the credit goes to Nezuko, whose flames are only harmful to demons.

Demons and any power related to them will be burned, while having no effect on a human. In the season finale, Uzui is battling with death after receiving several injuries, and worst of all, Gyutaro’s poison. Nezuko easily burns away the poison and saves his life. This again proves her powers are just too special to ignore. Additionally, we witness the heartbreaking backstory of Gyutaro and his sister Daki.

They were born and died in the pleasure district, never once leaving its shadows, even as demons. Although they were bickering after getting defeated, Tanjiro stepped in to stop Gyutaro from saying something he’d regret. In the end, the Demon Slayer Corps arrives to deal with the aftermath of the major fight.

Season 3 Episode 8: “The Mu in Muichiro”

Demon Slayer Season 3 Muichiro
Ufotable

Muichiro Tokito didn’t give quite an impression when he was introduced, but the Swordsmith Village Arc easily made him a fan favorite. After the traumatic demon attack that severely injured him and also took his twin brother, Yuichiro’s life, Muichiro suffered from amnesia for several years. He also would’ve died if the Demon Slayer Corps hadn’t found him. Considering he’s a direct descendant of the Sun Breathing Style, he and his brother were offered to join the Corps before, but Yuichiro refused them.

Upper Moons Four and Five join forces to annihilate the Swordsmith Village Arc and cause quite a lot of casualties there. Luckily, two Hashira were already there along with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya, who joined the front lines. Muichiro was stuck fighting an Upper Moon Five all by himself, which is supposed to be an impossible feat, even for a Hashira. Just when Muichiro thought it was all over, he suddenly gained back his memories and manifested a demon slayer mark, something that had been lost in history after Yoruichi’s death.

This was a major turning point in the story as it confirms that as long as a demon slayer can meet the required conditions and manifest a unique mark, they can gain the power to even defeat the Upper Moons. The light in his eyes returning is also an indication that his cloudy mind has been cleared, and he has finally understood who he is.

Season 3, Episode 5: “Bright Red Sword”

Demon Slayer Tanjiro Yoriichi
Ufotable

The peaceful Swordsmith Village has been aiding the Demon Slayer Corps for centuries by forging special nichirin swords for them. Because of this, they can easily become the target of the demons, forcing the villagers to live in hiding. However, when Gyokko found a village, Muzan sent him and Hantengu on a mission to annihilate every villager. Chaos soon erupts in the village as the demon slayers take action against the enemies. Although there were only supposed to be two Upper Moon demons, Hantengu’s ability to make his clones proved to be quite challenging.

Each clone is extremely powerful, but Tanjiro put up a good fight against them, thanks to his Sun Breathing Style. It’s the original Breathing Style developed by Yoriichi, but it takes quite a lot of skill to master it. Tanjiro never mastered it like the legendary demon slayer, but he progressively improves his ability to use it, culminating in his final battle against the demons. In the Swordsmith Village Arc, he was still learning how to control it, but even then, he managed to defeat a few of Hantengu’s clones in one strike.

Of course, it’s also thanks to Nezuko for setting his sword ablaze and turning it red, giving him the power he needed. All Upper Moons have Muzan’s blood, so they share the same thoughts and memories as the Demon progenitor. As soon as they see Tanjiro with his Hanafuda earrings, wielding a bright red sword, the clones are reminded of the terror Muzan faced while coming across Yoriichi about five centuries ago.

Season 2, Episode 14: “Transformation”

Demon Slayer Nezuko Transformation
Ufotable

Even after turning into a demon, it’s almost rare for Nezuko to lose her cool in any situation. However, the battle in the Entertainment District pushed her to her limits. After saving Tanjiro from Daki, Nezuko suffered several consecutive wounds. Although she healed all of them, she also transformed into an adult version of herself with vine-like tattoos circling her body and a single horn protruding from her forehead.

She easily overpowers Daki in a matter of seconds, showing excellent regenerative powers, even better than hers. Nezuko has had several incredible moments before this, but nothing compares to this epic and gorgeous fight. However, the downside of this transformation was that she lost all reason, so much so that Tanjiro had to calm her down by singing a lullaby.

Not only that, but we also learn in this episode that the real Upper Moon Six isn’t Daki, but her older brother Gyutaro. Up until that moment, the series pretty much confirmed Daki was the real Upper Moon, so that was quite a shocking plot twist. As expected, the situation spiraled out of control when Gyutaro joined the fight.

Season 4, Episode 8: “The Hashira Unite”

Muzan Demon Slayer
Ufotable

Until the finale, the Hashira Training Arc was rather peaceful considering the rest of the story. However, things changed drastically when Muzan arrived at the Ubuyashiki manor and finally met the head of the Demon Slayer Corps. The two are sworn enemies, despite never having met each other. The location was supposed to be hidden from demons, so it took Muzan several centuries to find it, and that was only because Kagaya deliberately allowed the demon to find him in order to carry out the plan. Kagaya blows up his house, including two of his children and his wife.

Muzan was caught off guard by the sudden attack and found the demon slayers, especially all the Hashira, jumping to attack him. They’re not only heartbroken by the sudden tragedy but also facing their biggest opponent, the strongest demon of all. Even after being burned, Muzan had the upper hand before Tamayo injected a poison into him, sacrificing herself in the process. The demon slayers surrounding him are sucked into the Infinity Castle, ending the final episode of the season on a cliffhanger.

Season 1, Episode 19: “Hinokami”

Nezuko Blood Demon Art
Ufotable

The first season of Demon Slayer was the longest one ever and had several ups and downs. During the Mount Natagumo Arc, Tanjiro and his team encountered one of the 12 Kizuki, Lower Moon Five. As someone who consumes Muzan’s blood, Rui was not only strong but also had several powerful demons doing his bidding. Tanjiro and Nezuko are cornered by Rui, unable to come up with a counterattack.

In the heat of the moment, Tanjiro also taps into his Sun Breathing Technique, the one his father taught him as a dance form. The animation scene is gorgeous and is considered one of the most beautifully animated sequences in modern anime. Additionally, just before Tanjiro is about to launch the attack, Nezuko awakens her Blood Demon Art and assists him.

What’s even more commendable is that Tanjiro does all that with a broken sword, further highlighting his growth as a demon slayer. Paired with a soothing OST, the moment when Tanjiro uses his true power to attack one of the most powerful demons in existence just hits differently. The ending is also special for that particular episode, as we see several beautiful illustrations of Tanjiro and his family accompanied by a soft melody.

Season 3, Episode 11: “A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light

Demon Slayer Nezuko
Ufotable

The one-hour finale of the Swordsmith Village Arc is a major turning point in Nezuko’s life as it proves there is a chance that Tanjiro’s promise can come true. The chaotic fight against Upper Moon Four finally ends as the dawn breaks, but that was only possible thanks to Nezuko. After all, whenever things get tough, Nezuko always has Tanjiro’s back, even if it costs her life.

When Hantengu was chasing the villagers, Tanjiro chose to protect Nezuko from the sunlight instead of going against the demon. Nezuko kicked him away so he could do his duty, but that almost cost her life. As Tanjiro defeats the demon, he starts mourning his sister, thinking she’s burned to ash. However, he never would’ve expected she would be standing in front of him, without the muzzle and freely under the sun.

Nezuko is the first demon to conquer the sun in a thousand years, and Muzan couldn’t be happier about it. The scene is also a foreboding of what’s about to come since the demon progenitor wants to capture Nezuko more than ever now. Additionally, it’s the most heartwarming ending to a major fight against a powerful demon. Whether it’s the Infinity Train or the Entertainment District, the Demon Slayer Corps suffered massive losses because of the Upper Moons. Defeating two of them in a single night without a slayer dying is nothing short of miraculous.

Season 2, Episode 17: “Never Give Up

Uzui Gyutaro
Ufotable

Not many modern fight scenes can be compared to the incredibly animated Tengen vs. Gyutaro battle. Despite being at a serious disadvantage, the demon slayers refused to be taken out by Gyutaro and Daki. With Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Uzui being knocked out of the battle, Tanjiro was fighting the Upper Six all by himself and almost lost his life. However, it takes a lot more than losing a hand to keep the demon slayers down. Zenitsu and Inosuke take Daki away from the scene while Uzui gets back on his feet despite his serious injuries.

Since he’s a dual sword wielder, he uses his mouth to attack with one of his blades. With their combined effort, the team manages to sever both siblings’ heads simultaneously, a necessary step to kill them. However, the episode also ends on a major cliffhanger because Gyutaro’s body explodes, putting everyone in the Enterntainment District in serious danger.

The countdown to Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle movie continues, and Inosuke has stolen the spotlight in today’s daily promo. The Infinity Castle film opens in Japanese theaters on July 18th, and Ufotable have been counting down 100 days until the film’s release. We’re now 10% of the way there, with the past week and half seeing Tanjiro and Zenitsu receiving new posters. Today, it’s time for Inosuke, everyone’s favorite mad swordsman, to get the same treatment.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle opens a few months later in the US. Fans will have to dodge spoilers for a few months, until September 12th, to experience the next chapter in the Demon Slayer story on the big screen. At least we all get to enjoy the daily promos together.

Demon Slayer Unveils a New Look at Inosuke

Rounding out Demon Slayer‘s dynamic trio (along with the optimistic Tanjiro and the terrified Zenitsu) is the maniacal Inosuke. The battle hungry dual-wielding swordsman has become a fan favorite thanks to his crazy antics and iconic boar-head mask which hides a hilariously effeminate face underneath.

The new character poster for Inosuke shows off his beloved boar mask, along with his serrated dual wield katanas. Inosuke is shown charging forward with his arms crossed, swords in hand, ready to deliver two devastating blows, all while the off-kilter blue eyes of his boar mask are missaligned.

The new character poster celebrated 90 days until the Infinity Castle arc movie releases in Japanese theaters. The day before fans were treated to a photo of Inosuke’s Japanese voice actor, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, promoting the movie. On day 91 of the 100 day countdown, Matsuoka held up a board showing off the beautifully designed tickets for Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Infinity Castle.

Will Infinity Castle Be Another Big Screen Success for Demon Slayer?

There’s a lot riding on Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle movie. After two turbulant seasons (The “Swordsmith Village Arc” and the “Hashira Training Arc”), fans are hoping that the Infinity Castle movie can put the franchise back on top form.

The Infinity Castle movie also has a high bar for success after Demon Slayer‘s first theatrical outing. 2022’s Mugen Train Arc movie was a resounding theatrical success, grossing $507 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing anime movie of all time. The Infinity Castle movie living up to the same success will be a hard fought battle, but the film is expected to come somewhere close considering the immense popularity of the franchise.

The Infinity Castle movie will pick up right after the season finale of the Hashira Training Arc. After Muzan visited the Demon Slayer Corps and was held off by the Hashira, who detonated Ubuyashiki Mansion in a desperate attempt to hold him at bay, the original demon retreated to the Infinity Castle. But, he took a handful of the Demon Slayer Corps with him. This year’s Infinity Castle movie is the first entry in a new trilogy which will bring the Demon Slayer franchise to a close.

Of the many swordsmen introduced within the Demon Slayer Corps, there is one character that has become a fan favorite thanks to Koyoharo Gotouge’s Demon Slayer. The pig-mask-wearing Inosuke has always been looking for a good fight since he tore onto the scene in the anime adaptation’s first season and the same is true for the upcoming film trilogy. As fans wait for the first entry of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle to hit the silver screen, a new promo has arrived featuring Inosuke as he prepares to test out his swords on some of Muzan’s strongest lieutenants.

When last we left the Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, they were being dragged into Muzan’s home base known as the Infinity Castle. The ever-changing environment is promising to give the Corps their biggest challenges to date, and hilariously, Inosuke is one hundred percent on board. As he finds himself falling into the castle, the pig-mask-wearing swordsman could not restrain his excitement for his next big challenge, following his conquering of the Hashira training. Now that he has even more power under his belt thanks to his recent exercises, Inosuke will be one to watch when it comes to what might be the biggest anime trilogy of all time.

Inosuke To The Rescue

Ufotable

To help promote the first of the upcoming trilogy, the Japanese voice actor responsible for bringing Inosuke to life, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, has shared a new look at the special movie tickets associated with the Infinity Castle. Without diving into spoiler territory, Yoshitsugu will have his work cut out for him in these final three films. While Inosuke might have been absent from the Swordsmith Village Arc, meaning it’s been some time since he fought an actual demon, the Infinity Castle will have plenty of challenges shot his way.

The Infinity Castle: The Beginning of The End

As we count down the days until Demon Slayer: The Infinity Castle arrives in Japan, Western anime fans will have to wait a little longer to witness Tanjiro and company’s return to the big screen. In Japan, the film will hit theaters on July 18th this summer, while the Ufotable production will hit North America on September 12th this fall. As it stands, the shonen franchise has yet to confirm when the following two films will be released but they are sure to be major additions to the anime world.

Demon Slayer’s first film, Mugen Train, remains the biggest anime movie of all time, bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office. Thanks to this success, the Ufotable anime would release several compilation films that housed episodes from the television series. With the Infinity Castle featuring brand new material, there’s an argument to be made that it can overcome the Mugen Train’s profits, especially with this trilogy marking the end of the beloved shonen anime.

Ufotable’s 100 days of Demon Slayer promos continue in the build-up to the Infinity Castle arc movie. Over the past few days, ComicBook has covered the daily posters and promo materials for the upcoming film. This time, Hiro Shimono, the voice of everyone’s favorite sleepy demon hunter, Zenitsu, is getting in on the fun. We’ve already been given a new character poster for Zenitsu in the upcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, but Shimono has made a live-action appearance in the latest promo.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is currently slated to release in Japan on July 18. The new promo campaign is counting down the days until the film’s theatrical release — it’s like the nerdiest advent calendar ever… and we love it. Unfortunately, the 100-day promo campaign doesn’t align with the US release date, as western fans will have to wait until September to see Demon Slayer‘s next theatrical release.

Zenitsu’s Voice Actor Prepares for the Infinity Castle

The latest promo celebrates 93 days until Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is released in Japan. The promo follows on from yesterday’s addition, which starred Nezuko’s voice actress, Akari Kito, holding up the movie tickets for the film. Wearing an incredibly stylish suit, Hiro Shimono appears in the latest promo, also showcasing the beautifully designed tickets, each with a different Demon Slayer art print on them.

Fans have become obsessed with the Demon Slayer 100-day countdown. The campaign was kicked off with two videos on days 100 and 99 featuring the Japanese voice cast of Demon Slayer hyping up the film, as well as resharing the teaser trailer. From days 98 to 96, fans were treated to some stunning character posters, including one depicting the long-awaited face-off between Tanjiro and Mugen. Check out the latest release below…

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle Releases This September

Hype for the Infinity Castle movie is building and building among the fan base. The immensely popular franchise, based on the eponymous manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, first aired in 2019 and quickly became one of the most popular modern anime of all time. While fans have had their complaints about the show over the past two seasons, the Demon Slayer fandom is still immensely strong going into the Infinity Castle film.

Infinity Castle will be the second theatrical film set within the franchise. The Mugen Train Arc was also adapted into a movie, and broke the record for the highest-grossing anime movie of all time when it was released in 2020. Ufotable is hoping that the Infinity Castle film will break that record again. The movie is part of a new trilogy of films that will bring the beloved franchise to a close.

The entire Demon Slayer saga is available to stream on Crunchyroll, along with some bonus content that was recently added to the streamer, with the main series also available to stream on Netflix and Hulu.

Demon Slayer isn’t just another anime. The brainchild of Koyoharu Gotouge, a manga author so mysterious you will have a hard time finding a single picture of them online, Demon Slayer’s manga first exploded into the scene in 2016. By the time it wrapped up in 2020, it had sold a jaw-dropping 150 million copies. And if that wasn’t enough, Studio Ufotable then turned the franchise into a global phenomenon with four seasons and Mugen Train—the movie that dethroned Spirited Away as Japan’s highest-grossing film ever.

Now, the franchise is setting out to break its own record with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, hyping the movie up with a daily countdown on their official X account, @kimetsu_off. Day 94 out of 100 is all about Akari Kito, the voice behind everyone’s favorite demon sister, Nezuko Kamado. But while Japanese fans only have 94 days to go until the movie releases on July 18th, 2025, that’s unfortunately not going to be the case for Demon Slayer fans in the U.S., who will have to wait until September for their chance at experiencing the first part of the series’ finale.

Nezuko’s Akari Kito Hypes Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Demon Slayer’s latest X post marks day 94 out of their 100-day countdown to Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, and this time, Nezuko’s voice actress, Akari Kito, is here to hype fans up. The post shows Kito showcasing some special movie tickets Japanese fans will be able to grab as the movie releases. The tickets are beautifully illustrated so fans can see beloved characters like Shinobu, Sanemi, Tanjiro, and Nezuko herself with serious expressions and darker backgrounds to reflect the movie’s place as the first part of the series’ last story arc.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination where Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

As Infinity Castle gets the three-part movie treatment, its first part is all set to drop in Japan on July 18th. But for any fans outside Japan hoping for a simulcast, you are unfortunately all out of luck. Fans from the U.S. won’t get to see the final showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan until nearly two months later on September 12th (which is far later than in some other countries). Fortunately, the franchise has decided to make this wait a little easier for fans with two new releases.

Nezuko’s Akari Kito Hypes Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Demon Slayer Drops Two New Releases

As U.S. fans wait for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Crunchyroll has just tossed them two new distractions. First up is a Demon Slayer stage play. This is a 149-minute live-action adaptation of Season 1, so fans can re-experience Tanjiro’s iconic headbutts and Nezuko’s box with real humans and thrilling stage effects. If you want a recap of Tanjiro’s journey from regular village boy to demon slayer trying to cure his only living family member of demonhood, be sure to check this out.

But if stage plays aren’t your jam, Crunchyroll’s got something for you, too. You can now watch two Demon Slayer live concerts on the streaming platform from the comfort of your home. The first concert covers Season 1’s most iconic moments, while the second dives into Mugen Train’s score. Better yet, the first concert even features an animated introduction by Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke before pulling fans into the series’ hypnotizing music.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be hitting screens worldwide with a brand new movie, and one of the stars behind it all is showing off the special new tickets that will be launched with it. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is a brand new film trilogy adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga release. Unlike some of the other movie events that had been seen in the past few years, Infinity Castle will feature a new story that has yet to make it to the TV anime series as Tanjiro Kamado and the others have big fights ahead of them.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be coming to Japan later this July before hitting the rest of the world, and the anime is going all out for the occasion with a special countdown that kicked off nearly 100 days before the new movie’s release. What Will Demon Slayer’s New Movie Be About?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is hitting with the first film in a planned full trilogy of films for the Infinity Castle arc. This arc takes place immediately after the events of Demon Slayer Season 4’s Hashira Training arc as Tanjiro and the rest of the Demon Slayer Corps had been brought into Muzan Kibutsuji’s mysterious Infinity Castle. Taking place over the course of a single evening, this arc brings about the final battles in the series overall.

It’s yet to be revealed how each of the films will separate the events of the massive arc as it’s the longest in Gotoge’s original manga overall. By the end of the night, there will be some major losses on both sides of this long war between humans and demons. Tanjiro is going to need to push himself to unforeseen limits, and this new trilogy will bring us all one step closer to the end of the anime overall. Or depending on how this adapts the grand finale, it could even be the end of the anime franchise too.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is now in the works on returning to theaters later this year with the first film in a planned new trilogy of films, and it’s counting down the days with a special new look at Zenitsu Agatsuma. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is a brand new trilogy of feature films coming to theaters adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. This trilogy will be taking on the final fights between Tanjiro and the final members of Muzan Kibutsuji’s Upper Ranks, and has some big plans for everyone involved in the chaos.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be hitting theaters across Japan with the first film in its trilogy later this July, and to celebrate the films have kicked off a special new countdown to really amp up the hype. This new countdown will be launching special promotional materials for the film as we get closer to its July release, and the latest of these efforts have shared a cool new look at Zenitsu as he’s getting ready to play his crucial role in the fights across Muzan’s Infinity Castle. Check it out below.

When Does Demon Slayer’s New Movie Come Out?

Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment (outside of Japan), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will first be hitting theaters across Japan on July 18th, and will be coming to theaters in the United States and Canada beginning on September 12th. The film will also be releasing in IMAX and other large premium formats with both Japanese and English dubbed audio versions available upon its premiere, and is the first in a new trilogy of planned films. But as of the time of this publication, release details for the final two films have yet to be announced.

As for what this new film will be about, it picks up shortly after the events of the Hashira Training arc seen in Demon Slayer Season 4. The synopsis for the film teases it as such, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. What’s Going On With Zenitsu?

Demon Slayer is touting that this new trilogy will be adapting the final battles between Tanjiro and the Demon Slayers against Muzan’s demon forces, but it’s yet to be revealed how these fights will be split across the three movies. What has been made clear by the final moments of that fourth season, however, is that Zenitsu is particularly locked in one of the fights coming his way as his mood changed soon after he got a very mysterious letter.

The Zenitsu shown in both this poster and that we’ll see in this new trilogy is a much more serious fighter than we have seen in the anime to date. That was one of the big flaws with the character that fans had noticed before, and it’s going to be one of the things that he adjusts as the franchise gets a lot more serious from this point on. Zenitsu’s vibe changes along with the rest of the series, and now it’s time to see how all of these fights will end.

The wait until Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is released in theaters is getting shorter and shorter. Fans of the immensely popular action anime franchise have been desperate for Infinity Castle to return the series to its top adrenaline-filled form, following a more stagnated past two seasons. The first teaser trailer has been released, and an exact release date has been revealed. All that’s left to do now is wait but fans won’t be doing it alone, as Studio Ufotable is counting down the days with us with a new promo.

The Infinity Castle movie will pick up right where Season 4 of Demon Slayer left off. After Muzan attacked Tanjiro and the Hashiras, he fled to the Infinity Castle and took many of them with him. There’s a lot to be excited about for the Infinity Castle movie. While the show’s plot has received some complaints in recent years, no one can deny that the animation has been phenomenal. So, to see that quality blown up to a feature film once again could be nothing short of breathtaking.

Ufotable Hypes Infinity Castle With a New Tanjiro Promo

Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is slated for release in Japan on July 18th — US fans will have to wait until September 12th. We’re now less than 100 days away from the film’s theatrical debut, and Ufotable has released a new promo to celebrate. The studio shared the new poster on the official Demon Slayer X (formerly Twitter) account. The poster is part of an ongoing series building up to the Infinity Castle‘s release.

The poster depicts everyone’s favorite kind-hearted Demon Slayer, Tanjiro preparing to swing his sword. While the anime depicts the breathing techniques using gorgeous supernatural visuals, it has been confirmed that these aren’t real, and to the characters it just looks like normal sword fights (or as normal as a sword fight can get when demons are involved). It appears as though the poster is emulating that, as Tanjiro’s sword lacks any Water Breathing or Sun Breathing elements. Check out the poster below…

Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle Movie Releases This September

Infinity Castle‘s September release date comes as a bit of a bummer to US fans. Given the levels of international hype surrounding the franchise, many were hoping for and expecting a simulcast release. At the very least, fans were expecting to wait no longer than a few weeks after the film was released in Japan. The delay does mean that international fans will have to duck spoilers online for two months.

This year’s Infinity Castle movie is part of a new trilogy which will bring the beloved franchise to a close. Along with a lengthy recap of the story so far, Crunchyroll describes the movie, “The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

The final arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is gearing up for its theatrical release in September 2025, and Ufotable isn’t wasting any time marketing the film. The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime adaptation of Demon Slayer has been slowly releasing countdown illustrations to promote the release of the franchise’s final film collection, a trilogy set to adapt the entirety of the Infinity Castle arc and finally bring the anime adaptation to an end.

The two most recent promotional visuals featured on the Demon Slayer account depict Tanjiro in an action pose, swinging his iconic Nichirin blade. The other is a poster-style visual that serves as a callback to Season 1, Episode 7, where Tanjiro runs into Muzan disguised as a typical family man. Based on the numbering in the bottom corner of each post, it seems as though there will be 100 similar images released leading up to the first film in the upcoming trilogy’s September 12th, 2025 release date, following its July debut in Japan.

Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle Film Trilogy Is One Of Ufotable’s Most Ambitious Animated Works Yet

Ufotable is an iconic animation production studio that rose to prominence due to their absolutely stunning work on the Fate franchise and began working on adapting Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer in 2019. The adaptation has been, without a doubt, one of their most striking projects to date, featuring gorgeously animated action sequences with a lush art style that perfectly captures the original work’s unique illustrations. The hard work has paid off, as Demon Slayer has, as of writing, turned into one of the highest-grossing franchises of all time. The manga has well over 150 million copies in circulation since the anime began, and the first film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train made $507 million USD worldwide, and became the highest-grossing anime film of all time, beating out Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, which made $395.8 million USD internationally.

While Mugen Train was impressive, there’s no doubt, based on the marketing for Infinity Castle, that Ufotable is aiming to push their production quality to new heights to properly send Demon Slayer off. The Infinity Castle arc of the manga is full of intense battles with members of the Hashira and the final, most deadly members of the Upper Moons – and, of course, the final showdown between Muzan and Tanjiro. The landscape of the castle itself is also a technical challenge for animators, as seen in the last episode of Demon Slayer‘s fourth season, which is constantly changing and shifting around the main cast at Muzan’s whim. All that said, the Demon Slayer anime adaptation has been nothing short of a labor of love from Ufotable, and having dedicated so many years to bringing the story to life, it’s only natural that the final battle would be one of its most stunning pieces of art they’ve created yet.

Demon Slayer is preparing to take the world by storm thanks to the first entry in its final trilogy hitting theaters later this year. Since becoming one of the biggest shonen franchises in history, routinely coming within striking distance of One Piece’s reign, if not exceeding it, many have wondered if a live-action adaptation will arrive. While the Demon Slayer Corps has not been confirmed for a live-action movie and/or television series, a new live-action project has begun in Japan. The latest stage play focusing on the Swordsmith Village Arc has arrived and you can check out the first images of the production in action.

For those who might be unaware, the current run for Demon Slayer Part 5: Attack on The Swordsmith Village has begun its run at the Tennozu Galaxy Theater in Tokyo, running from today until Sunday April 20th at the locale. Following this initial run, the play will have additional performances from Friday, April 25th to Sunday, April 27th at the AiiA Theater Kobe in the Hyogo Prefecture. Unfortunately, like the previous plays, there hasn’t been word on this performance making its way to the West but with recent performances of Attack on Titan, Death Note, and Sailor Moon plays hitting North America, it’s entirely possible that the Demon Slayer Corps play could do the same. You can check out the preview images below for the latest production.

Demon Slayer’s Live-Action Swordsmith Village

To help celebrate the recent live-action release, scriptwriter and director Motoyoshi Tsuneywasu had a message for fans, “Connect, connect, connect. Finally the curtains rise. A wonderful cast has come together for the best original work. “Swordsmith Village” is full of stories that make us wonder how “people” live. The Upper Ranks attack. Tanjiro fights back. The battle intensifies and diversifies. I want everyone, including the audience, to face the moment when the story blossoms and heads towards its climax. I hope you enjoy the play that we have all woven together.”

It almost seems inevitable at this point that Demon Slayer will receive some other sort of live-action adaptation in the future. With One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender hitting it big on Netflix, other franchises such as Naruto, My Hero Academia, Mobile Suit: Gundam, and more are seeking to get in on the live-action market. Though based on the trajectory of the anime adaptation, a potential live-action project might arrive after the series finale.

Demon Slayer’s Curtain Call

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will arrive in theaters in Japan this summer, with the film hitting North America later this fall. The first of the trilogy will kick off right where the previous season left off as Tanjiro and his allies were dragged into Muzan’s “humble abode.” With the manga by creator Koyoharo Gotouge already hitting its conclusion years ago, the Demon Slayer Corps is currently playing catch-up to give anime fans the biggest battle of Tanjiro and friends’ lives.

This year, Demon Slayer is set to return with a movie that might be one of the biggest anime films of all time, if the shonen franchise’s past is any indication. As of the writing of this article, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is still the biggest anime movie of all time, bringing in the most profits of any of its competitors. Considering that the upcoming Infinity Train will be the first of the trilogy that will end the story of Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the Demon Slayer Corps, anime fans are counting down until they can witness the fight against Muzan on the silver screen. Luckily, Ufotable has shared a brand new countdown to prep fans to say goodbye to the shonen series that is often thought of as the cream of the crop.

For those who might not know, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will release in Japan on July 18th, though the same cannot be said of the North American release. While the first of the cinematic trilogy is coming to theaters in the West, western anime fans will have to wait until the fall on September 12th to check out Tanjiro and company’s fight against Muzan and his lieutenants. With over ninety days to go until the anime movie arrives in Japanese theaters, Demon Slayer’s official social media account has started a countdown that has already revealed a new look at the Infinity Castle and its current inhabitants.

What Lies In Wait Within The Infinity Castle?

Ufotable

When last we left Demon Slayer’s television series, Tanjiro and his friends survived the trials and tribulations of the Hashira Training Arc. Unfortunately, they had little time to celebrate any of their victories as Muzan confronted the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki. While the big Hashira gathered to try to take down the demon lord, Muzan’s strength is to the point where only the sun can ultimately destroy him. With all the heroes dragged into the Infinity Castle itself, the first film of the trilogy is going to start out hot on the heels of the season four cliffhanger.

The official synopsis of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle gives anime fans an even closer look at the upcoming film, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Will Demon Slayer Return To TV?

While the grand finale for the anime series is confirmed for a trilogy of films, Demon Slayer has not revealed any plans to return to the small screen. There is good reason to believe that the Demon Slayer Corps will return to television screens as the Mugen Train was adapted to its own season. What we know for sure is that Ufotable fans might be waiting awhile to see these upcoming events brought to tvs worldwide.

Ahead of the theatrical release of the film adaptation of Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle arc, Crunchyroll has released official, feature-length episodes highlighting impactful moments from the series so far titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba TV Specials. With five streamlined chapters to revisit the Tanjiro Kamado Unwavering Resolve arc, the new collections offers a fast-paced recap for longtime fans, or even a condensed way to jump into the series before the movie released in September 2025.

As of writing, all five episodes are available exclusively on Crunchyroll in English-speaking territories and Latin America. The episodes are titled “Sibling’s Bond”, “Asakusa Arc”, “Tsuzumi Mansion Arc”, “Mt. Natagumo Arc”, and “Hashira Meeting Arc”. While this isn’t the first time Demon Slayer has created feature-length content to seamlessly connect and bridge new seasons, this is the first time the franchise has released a serialized collection that condenses the entire series in this way.

Despite Its Relatively Short Run, Demon Slayer Became a Worldwide Sensation

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ran for just over four years from 2016 to 2020 with a total of 205 chapters that were collected into 23 individual volumes, or tankobon. Compared to many of the other smash-hit success stories to come out of Shonen Jump, Demon Slayer had a relatively short run, managing to wrap up its story exactly how it intended to and without needing to drag things along for countless chapters against the creator’s wishes. It was, all things considered, the best thing for the manga, as its easy to digest story and gorgeously illustrated panels gave fans enough to get attached to, and with the release of Ufotable’s absolutely stunning anime adaptation, gave the fandom a reason to keep going despite the anime coming to an end. While the manga was popular on its own, the anime adaptation skyrocketed the franchise to new heights, and, in 2020, Demon Slayer had made $8.75 billion, becoming the highest-grossing series in Japan, surpassing other properties like Anpanman, Mickey Mouse, and even Pokémon.

To really cement just how massive Demon Slayer‘s cultural impact has been, Oricon Monitor Research conducted a survey in 2020 just to see how familiar the Japanese public is with the franchise. Astoundingly, 90% of the individuals surveyed reported that they knew of the series, with 40.5% of participants stating that they either engaged directly with the manga or anime, or that they were very familiar with the story. While the sudden boom in Demon Slayer‘s popularity could potentially be attributed to the COVID-19 lockdowns that occurred around the time the series initially aired, which would put more eyes on its week-to-week release, it’s clear that the franchise very much stands on its own for earning its audience. Gege Akutami, the creator of another Weekly Shonen Jump superstar, Jujutsu Kaisen, stated that Demon Slayer was an excellent entry-point for those new to reading manga, which perfectly captures just how important Demon Slayer is for the industry.

Demon Slayer is no stranger to the world of video games, as Tanjiro and his fellow members of the Demon Slayer Corps have appeared in a handful of titles. Games such as Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles and Demon Slayer: Sweep The Board offer some wild different takes on the popular shonen characters. In a surprise discovery, it seems that the world of Ubisoft’s assassins wasn’t able to avoid the influence of the shonen franchise as Demon Slayer makes an unexpected appearance in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. If you’re a fan of the Demon Slayer Corps, you will instantly recognize the object to be found in the latest stealth video game.

By discovering “The Secret Path” in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, fans will be able to stumble upon the “Split Rock” that Tanjiro was able to “create” thanks to some serious training. Ironically enough, this boulder is one that actually exists in the real world as it exists in Japan at the Shohachiman Shrine in the Fukuoka Prefecture. While this hardly means that Tanjiro and his demon-slaying friends will be crossing over into this world of assassins, it goes to show how the worlds of anime and video games continue to intersect to this day. You can check out a video of the boulder itself below.

On top of this Assassin’s Creed Shadows easter egg, the Demon Slayer Corps have a big event this year to look forward to. This summer, the first entry of Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle trilogy will hit theaters in Japan, with North America receiving the film theatrically this September. With this cinematic trilogy billed as the grand finale for the popular shonen series, anime fans are debating whether this movie will be able to dethrone the current biggest anime movie of all time, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.

If you want a refresher, or an introduction, in the next chapter of Tanjiro’s story, here is an official description for the first entry of the Infinity Castle series, “As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Tanjiro in Demon Slayer with demons behind him

Demon Slayer: Kimetso no Yaiba is objectively one of the most popular anime of all time. Based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, the shonen series follows Tanjiro on his mission to save his demon sister Nezuko by joining the Demon Slayer Corp in their fight against Muzan and his demonic army. Even with its divisive later seasons, Demon Slayer is still a massive hit, as fans would tune in each week for the gorgeously animated battles and hilarious antics between Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and the rest of the Hashira. But the anime has one glaring flaw that many fans struggle to overlook.

Most of Demon Slayer focuses on the physical battles between Tanjiro, his comrades, and the demons. Season 1 eased Tanjiro in as he fought unranked and lower-ranked demons. But since the Mugen Train Arc movie, he’s been facing off against the Upper Moon Demons and somehow prevailing. Being the kind soul that he is, Tanjiro tries to comfort the dying demons in their final moments. But, as they share their life stories from before they turned into fiends, audiences can’t help but groan at a poorly used anime trope.

Demon Slayer Gyutaro and Daki flashback scene
Ufotable

Demon Slayer’s Flashbacks Are Notoriously Frustrating

The anime flashback is a trope that has already been memed into infamy. After a hard-fought battle, a character will lie dying on the floor with everyone around them crying. But before they move on to the next life, the episode takes a 15-minute-long diversion to recount their entire life story. Some anime use flashbacks incredibly well to establish their characters, the history of the world, or to recap past events if a series is particularly confusing. Shows like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and even Attack on Titan use flashbacks well. Unfortunately, Demon Slayer does not.

While it is a trope for the medium as a whole, Demon Slayer‘s flashbacks have become a formula unto themselves. The trend was most notable in the “Entertainment District Arc,” after the Demon Slayer Corp finally managed to kill Daki and Gyutaro, with each character being given almost an entire episode dedicated to their flashbacks. But even the Hashira get a lengthy flashback when their lives are on the line.

Demon Slayer Gyomei flashback scene
Ufotable

Why Demon Slayer‘s Flashbacks Are So Bad

The problem isn’t with flashbacks as a whole. As previously mentioned, some anime make great use of the technique. But, to put it bluntly, Demon Slayer‘s use of flashbacks is lazy and has negative consequences on the rest of the respective season. Fans now know that when a demon is close to dying, the episode will pause from the action to show their backstory. This expectation and the flashback itself drastically kills the frenetic pacing created by the intense battle scene that has likely lasted for the past few episodes. For a show that relies so heavily on the strength of its action, culling the pacing so suddenly for a flashback removes the energy from the fight. So, when we then rejoin the present to see Tanjiro kill the demon, it doesn’t feel as exciting.

Most egregiously, Demon Slayer‘s use of flashbacks is lazy from a writing perspective. Fans love an interesting and sympathetic character. But there are much better ways of making an audience care about an antagonist than info-dumping their backstory into a single flashback right before they die. To many, it feels like a cheap way to elicit sympathy and tears before they are killed. Demon Slayer‘s villains and complex Hashira would be far more interesting if their backstories were hinted at throughout the season, either through smaller, more incremental flashbacks that influence their decisions in the present or even through how they behave in the present.

The series has shown it can do this with Muzan, who has already been shown to be complex through his limited screentime in the past seasons. So, why is it so hard for the show to do with its Upper Moon Demons?

Fans are hoping that the upcoming Infinity Castle movie will move beyond this trend and layer the villains’ and characters’ backstories into the overall story rather than halting the present progress to throw a slow flashback at the audience. We’ll find out for ourselves when Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle releases in US theaters on September 12th, 2025.

The highly-anticipated AnimeJapan 2025 event has finally commenced, unpacking a bunch of news and exciting updates about upcoming shows. The event also reveals news about the Demon Slayer’s upcoming Infinity Castle trilogy, with the first part being released this year. As confirmed by the Demon Slayer official website, fans will get a key visual clear stand as a special gift during the special edition theatrical screening of the anime. The stand includes an illustration of the anime’s key visual and comes with a background mount that fans can use to recreate three-dimensional visuals when displayed together. The offer is only available in Japan for those attending the theatrical screening on April 4th, featuring a special edition of the film from Tanjiro Kamado’s Determination Arc to Hashira Training Arc.

There are twelve variations of the clear stand with each visitor getting any one of those pieces. The website prohibits the resale, duplication, reproduction, or distribution of content on social media. Tanjiro Kamado’s Determination Arc refers to his unwavering resolve to turn his sister Nezuko back into a human and defeat the demon responsible for his family’s death. Meanwhile, the Hashira Training Arc happens right before the final fight against Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper-Rank Demons. The entire Demon Slayer Corps is training to improve themselves and even awaken their Demon Slayer Marks by meeting the extreme requirements for them to activate. The first part of the film trilogy is all set to hit the theatres.

ufotable / Shueisha

What to Expect From Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy?

The first part of the trilogy will hit Japanese theatres on July 18th and U.S. theaters on September 12th. The film will be available in several countries in August and September, with the dates varying based on the region. The trilogy will cover the first part of the Final Saga, with a strong possibility that it will also adapt the Sunrise Countdown Arc. However, there hasn’t been an announcement regarding the Sunrise Countdown.

The finale of the Hashira Training Arc sets up the Infinity Castle Arc’s premise as the demon slayers are forced inside Muzan’s hideout. They will be fighting the Six Upper-Rank demons. The first three have been undefeated since the beginning of their introduction. In contrast, Muzan has replaced the bottom three, who will be introduced in the arc. While the fight against the Upper-Rank demons is ongoing, the Demon Slayer Corps also sets out to defeat their biggest enemy, Muzan Kibutsuji.

His appearance has caused significant loss in the Corps, but they refuse to let him destroy everything in his path. Even after the death of their leader, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the Corps stood strong. Many Corps members, especially the Hashira, have awakened their Demon Slayer Mark, but the villains still prove to be a bigger challenge than anything they have faced so far. Fans will witness some of the most intense fights in the show with stakes higher than ever. It’s also the most tragic arc of the story as the Demon Slayer Corps suffers its biggest loss in history.

When Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke aren’t putting their lives on the line fighting demons in the very appropriately titled Demon Slayer, they’re putting on their romantic A-games to impress the women around them. Tanjrio loves Mitsuri, and there could be a romance on the horizon between him and Kanao, Zenitsu is obsessed with Nezuko while also throwing himself at any woman that breathes near him, and Inosuke… well, Inosuke loves himself more than anyone else. To celebrate the upcoming release of the first Infinity Castle movie, Demon Slayer’s official website got romantic with its latest promo in honor of White Day — a Japanese holiday that falls a month after Valentine’s Day.

Romance isn’t a major part of Demon Slayer‘s core plot, as much of its screentime is dedicated to jaw-dropping animated battles between the Demon Slayer Corp and Muzan’s army of demons, as well as the occasional, frustrating mid-fight flashback. But, in the show’s quieter moments, the men of Demon Slayer have proven their charm time and time again, and the latest promo only adds fuel to that fire.

Demon Slayer Celebrated White Day With a New Promo

You may remember ComicBook previously covered Demon Slayer‘s 2025 Valentine’s Day promo — if you don’t, go check it out, it’s really cute. That promo put the women of Demon Slayer front and center. For White Day, it’s time for the boys to take center stage in a new piece of art released by Studio Ufotable.

The promo features 11 of Demon Slayer‘s most popular male characters (not including Muzan). Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are obviously in the mix, as are Gyomei Himejima, Giyu Tomioka, Tengen Uzui, Kyojuro Rengoku, Muichiro Tokito, Obanai Iguro, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Genya Shinazugawa. Apparently, this White Day celebration takes place post-Mugen Train Arc movie, as Rengoku is nowhere to be found. In the artwork, each character is baking up a sweet treat to give to their significant other (or others, in the case of Tengen). Check out the artwork below.

Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle Arc movie debut is easily one of the most anticipated anime releases of 2025. The film opens in Japanese theaters this July, but Western fans will have to wait a little longer to see the Demon Slayer Corps begin their assault on the Infinity Castle. The Infinity Castle movie releases in the US on September 12th — meaning we have to try and avoid spoilers for almost two months!

The Infinity Castle movie will be the first in a trilogy that is expected to set the box office on fire and will bring the immensely popular Demon Slayer franchise to a close. The film is hoping to emulate the success of the Mugen Train Arc movie, which grossed over $400 million worldwide when it was released in 2020 and is still the highest-grossing anime movie of all time.

While the first film is set to release in theaters this year, there is currently no news on the subsequent two films in the trilogy. Some fans are hoping that a new movie may be released each year. However, given the sheer amount of work Ufotable’s staff has to undergo to adapt the “Infinity Castle” arc into each film, the wait will realistically be slightly longer.

With Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle movie fast approaching its theatrical release date, Studio Ufotable and Crunchyroll have been giving fans more and more content to enjoy. The anime streaming service recently added two live shows — the first Demon Slayer stage play adaptation and two live concerts — but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Demon Slayer will have two theatrical releases this year. As well as the first Infinity Castle movie, Aniplex has confirmed via their YouTube channel that the Mugen Train Arc movie is also chugging back into theaters with some technical enhancements for all those film buffs out there.

The Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Arc movie was first released in theaters in 2020. The film follows the show’s debut season, as Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu teamed up with the flame Hashira, Rengoku. The film pushed the four Demon Slayers to their limit and introduced anime-only fans to the Upper Moon demons (in this case Akaza), with devastating consequences. Although the rerelease has only been confirmed for Japanese theaters, fans in North America will want to keep their eyes out for additional announcements for other participating regions.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Arc Movie Gets 4K Theatrical Re-Release

The Mugen Train Arc movie is already the highest-grossing anime movie to be released in theaters, but that’s clearly not enough for Studio Ufotable and Aniplex as the film is heading back to theaters. The movie will be re-released in Japan on May 9th, 2025, just over a month before the Infinity Castle movie releases in Japanese theaters (July 18th). The movie will run in theaters for five weeks, with its re-release ending right before the July 18th release date of the Infinity Castle movie.

But the new screenings won’t just be a standard re-release. The Mugen Train Arc movie is getting digitally upgraded to 4K, with improved audio for the re-release. Japanese audiences can enjoy the film in three premium formats. The film will be released in IMAX, in Dolby Atmos & Dolby Cinema, and in 4DX & MX4D. Watching a Demon Slayer fight scene in 4DX would be wild!

The theatrical re-release is part of the “Kimetsu Theater – Demon Slayer Special Compilation Screening,” an event that will bring all of Demon Slayer‘s current arcs to the big screen from April 4th. To celebrate the event, a new trailer has been released, highlighting the Mugen Train Arc movie’s upgraded graphics.

Can Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle Movie Live Up to the Hype?

There’s a lot resting on the first Infinity Castle movie. The film will be the first in a trilogy which will bring the entire Demon Slayer franchise to a close. The series, based on the manga by Koyoharo Gotouge, is one of the most popular anime of all time worldwide, and one of the most-watched shows on Crunchyroll.

However, fans will be the first to admit that the latest seasons have been far from flawless. The “Swordsmith Village Arc” and the “Hashira Training Arc” seasons were both incredibly divisive, and have undoubtedly turned some more casual viewers away from finishing the series. As a result, Infinity Castle may have a much harder time besting Mugen Train Arc‘s $473 million box office take — which will now increase again after the re-release.

New reporting indicates that major entertainment industry companies and brands – specifically those related to the Anime genre – have gathered together to meet with a US Congressman to discuss new anti-piracy initiatives. Companies like Amazon, Disney, and Warner Bros. Discovery (via Consumer Technology Association) reportedly met with US Representative Darrell Issa at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, where talks were said to focus on the subject of digital piracy from foreign sources, and whether blocking access to entire sites was an actionable measure.

According to Representative Issa, these discussions “really went well, because there was a level of consensus on most of the issues by virtually everybody. There are solutions around the world, and we need to find one that works for the United States.” The next step is Issa meeting with additional companies like Paramount, Google, YouTube, and Verizon for further research and consultation geared toward getting his anti-piracy bill, the “American Copyright Protection Act” to the table.

American legislators and entertainment companies have been struggling to address online piracy since torrent sites and other lanes of Internet piracy started appearing in the 2000s. The biggest challenges have been getting a clear-cut definition of what constitutes “piracy,” and then, if and when a site is liable for hosting pirated materials. Even if a pirating site is identified, the method of cutting off access to it can be extremely challenging, as hackers and pirates are well aware of the censorship limits that hamstring most companies trying to stop the spread of copyrighted content.

Toei Animation

That all said, major companies have taken some surprising (if not evolving) stances on the issue: such as Google, Reddit, and Craigslist all blocking SOPA (the Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA ( the “PROTECT IP Act”) from becoming law back in 2011. The issue has typically been concerns that attempts to block piracy could quickly downslide into federal overreach and censorship; in fact, Issa was one the Reps who opposed SOPA at the time of its proposal, citing the fact that it would give the Department of Justice too much discretionary power over the Internet.

Now there are similar concerns about what Issa is proposing with the American Copyright Protection Act. Issa has been a controversial figure in politics for years now, stoking ire over issues like questioning the payment of disability claims to 9/11 first responders; helping to fund the recall of California governor Gray Davis (and election of “Governor” Arnold Schwarzenegger) in 2003; and, more recently, refusing to certify Pennsylvania’s electoral votes in the 2020 presidential election, and voting against impeaching Trump for “incitement of insurrection” during the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. That kind of track record has anime fans wondering if there could be an ulterior motive for putting this kind of restrictive bill in place.

Issa’s American Copyright Protection Act follows on the heels of congresswoman Zoe Lofgren’s bill, “The Foreign Anti-Digital Piracy Act”, which was recently tabled and seeks to establish a more concrete definition of what is “piracy.” In the summary of that bill, Lofgren writes, “A decade ago, I was at the center of the successful effort to prevent the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) from becoming law. That was not because I support copyright infringement, but because I support the open internet. Now – after working for over a year with the tech, film, and television industries – we’ve arrived at a proposal that has a remedy for copyright infringers located overseas that does not disrupt the free internet except for the infringers.”

Why Is Piracy So Bad For Anime?

Toei Animation

Anime has been a genre with one of the most sophisticated piracy networks – to the point that it’s arguably its own sub-genre. Because piracy sites can base their servers in places with lax copyright laws, knocking down one server location often simply results in the relocation and redistribution of pirated material. The issue for anime gets even worse when it comes to the corresponding issue of leaks, where new anime content is put out on the Internet before it even premieres on its primary broadcast and/or streaming platforms. These are increasingly becoming make-or-break issues, as anime has entered an era of carefully-coordinated simulcast release strategies. Those new strategies are being put in place in large part to both better service anime’s global fanbase and cut down on the appeal for fans to run out and pirate material rather than wait for slower methods of rollout.

This new era of legislation aims to grant federal organizations the ability to censor entire IP addresses or DNS servers, so that entire piracy farms can be prohibited from being accessed from the US, no matter how those piracy sites try and shift online locations or rebrand their names and/or web addresses. Of course, the cynical view of Issa’s proposal questions how it (and Lofgren’s Foreign Anti-Digital Piracy Act) could potentially be weaponized to control which sites get tagged for “piracy,” or get censored altogether based on other negative criteria that could be leveled against them. In a climate where political motivations have been openly influencing news media decisions, it’s a reasonable concern to have.

If nothing else, this legislation and the level of top brands it’s attracting are a major sign: Anime has become such a valuable content block for virtually every company in entertainment/streaming that they are willing to go to great political lengths to protect its value. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the often rebellious and counter-culture-minded anime fandom will take to having their back-alley paths to accessing content restricted by the major streaming/broadcast companies.

The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie is just a few months away. At least it is for Japanese audiences, as US fans have to wait until September to get their hands on the first of three new movies that will bring the insanely popular anime to a close. Studio Ufotable and Crunchyroll have heard the cries of the fan base; ‘What will we do between now and then? Watch another anime? Binge-watch the entire series again?’ While you absolutely should do both of those things, Crunchyroll just dropped two new Demon Slayer releases for you to sink your teeth into before the Infinity Castle movie releases later this year.

Studio Ufotable’s Demon Slayer anime adaptation, based on the beloved manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, first debuted in 2019. So far, the series has run for four divisive seasons, and a tremendously successful feature-length film. Seasons 1 and 2 of the show were beloved by the entire fan base as audiences fell in love with Tanjiro’s mission to save his sister and defeat the Demon Lord Muzan. But, the show began to fall off with its last two seasons, and much of the hype surrounding the franchise has died down. But, these two new releases should hopefully reignite that passion before the Demon Slayer Corps goes to war in the Infinity Castle.

Crunchyroll Adds Two New Demon Slayer Projects

There’s already so much Demon Slayer on Crunchyroll for fans to get lost in. But, the streamer just added two new additions ahead of the Infinity Castle movie. If you need a recap of how Tanjiro began his journey towards the Infinity Castle, then you can relive Demon Slayer in live-action. The first Demon Slayer Stage Play is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. The performance, which runs for 149 minutes, recounts the first season of Studio Ufotable’s anime, as Tanjiro comes face to face with demons for the first time and Nezuko is transformed into one.

If you don’t need to recall the entire saga but want that dose of nostalgia for the early seasons, then Crunchyroll also has two Demon Slayer live concerts available to stream. The first concert comes with an animated introduction from Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, before diving into the gorgeous music of Demon Slayer. Two concerts are currently available to stream, with the first covering Season 1 of the anime, and the second covering the Mugen Train movie.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie Releases This September

The release schedule for the first Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle arc movie may be frustrating for US and European fans. The new film will release in Japanese theaters on July 18th. Western fans were hoping for a simulcast. But, unfortunately, we’ll be waiting a little longer for the beginning of the end for Demon Slayer. The Infinity Castle arc movie releases in US theaters on September 12th.

An official synopsis for the Infinity Castle arc movie has been released. Along with a lengthy recap of the story so far, it reads, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is coming back with a new movie kicking off a brand new trilogy of feature films coming to theaters, so it’s time to get ready for what’s coming next. Demon Slayer‘s TV anime wrapped up the fourth season of its run last year with its adaptation of the Hashira Training Arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series. It was then quickly confirmed that the anime would be continuing, but rather than a new season as fans thought, it was announced that the anime would be returning to theaters instead for the next phase of Tanjiro Kamado’s story.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle was then announced to be the next step for the anime, and it was confirmed to be a brand new trilogy of feature films going to theaters. Touting that it’s going to be adapting the final battles between the Demon Slaying Corps and Muzan Kibutsuji’s demonic forces, this new trilogy is going to be bringing the heat when it finally kicks off later this year around the world. So here’s everything to know so far about what to expect from this massive project in the making.

What Is Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle About?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be picking up right from where the TV anime left things off as Tanjiro and the other surviving Hashira (along with every single Demon Slayer) have been transported to Muzan Kibutsuji’s mysterious Infinity Castle. The synopsis for the film begins to tease itself as such, “Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon. While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira.”

The synopsis continues with,  “Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village. As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion.”

The synopsis then drops an ominous tease for the final battles with, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Where to Read in the Demon Slayer Manga

If you wanted to get the jump on the new movies, the best place to start is with Demon Slayer‘s original manga release. The series is now complete, and will likely adapt the final chapters with this new trilogy. Therefore, if you wanted to be prepared for everything that goes down the best place to do it is starting with Chapter 140 of Gotoge’s manga. This chapter picks up right from Tanjiro and the others getting dropped into the Infinity Castle, and goes up to Chapter 183. This arc runs for 44 chapters in total, and is the longest arc in Gotoge’s manga overall.

This arc spans across the many final battles between Tanjiro and the others against the final members of the Upper Ranks, but there could be a final surprise in store even for those aware of how the manga keeps going from this point on. Because technically there’s still one final arc that takes place after Infinity Castle that runs for 22 chapters on its own. This trilogy is touting that it’s going to be bringing the anime run to an end, and if all 66 chapters are adapted we could be seeing 22 chapters a movie (or a likely better balance between the three of them).

It’s a massive undertaking for sure, so a trilogy makes a ton of sense to take on such a massive half of the series. But as fans watch each film, the cliffhangers and wait between them are going to feel pretty painful until it all comes to a proper end. Then again, that’s only if Demon Slayer stops with these new movies. This might be the end of the anime, but might be far from the end of its releases as there is still one big opportunity to keep this going for a little longer.

Demon Slayer fans were surprised to see that the TV anime would not be returning for a Season 5, but one isn’t off the table entirely. There is a precedent that we’ll see the TV series continue with a new edit or adaptation of the new films. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was such a hit when it first debuted in theaters that the TV series continued with a second season that adapted the movie into multiple episodes. Things kicked off for this season with a brand new episode setting the stage for Mugen Train’s events, and that very well could be the case here.

ufotable / Shueisha

Will There Be a Demon Slayer Season 5?

Following the likely success of this new trilogy, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle would be prime to return in a new TV format. This would also alleviate any issues about potentially skipped over material for a film’s runtime, and could be used to flesh out any elements that didn’t get enough time before. It’s what was eventually seen with the Hashira Training Arc as it added weeks of brand new material not seen in the manga release, and fans would get the opportunity to enjoy the arc all over again.

The main issue from this potential path, however, is the fact that a Demon Slayer TV anime re-release won’t hit the high mark with fans that they could expect. So the other option is to end the anime run with that secret 22 chapter final arc instead. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle‘s trilogy could bring us to this ultimate climax, and then fans could see it play out in a final season potentially the next year. It’s just going to be a tough balance for the anime team to figure out. This is also where fans are going to need to brace themselves for the anime’s future.

Demon Slayer’s TV anime could be officially over, but it’s such a juggernaut of a franchise that it’s hard to imagine that these films will truly be the end of it. That’s even more true as the Infinity Castle isn’t really the end of the series either. That’s the big question going into this new trilogy that won’t seem clear until we get to see the first film. Once we get to see where this first film cuts off in the arc, we’ll then be able to gauge just how far the films will go with their adaptation. So while we know a lot about the trilogy for now, that’s unfortunately going to be the one element that’s still a mystery until the films’ releases.

What are you hoping to see go down in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy? Do you think this will really be the end of the Demon Slayer anime? Let us know all of your thoughts about it and everything anime in the comments!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is gearing up to return to theaters with a brand new movie, but does it have a chance at topping Mugen Train at the worldwide box office? Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba‘s anime is now preparing for its grand finale as after the end of the Hashira Training arc in Season 4, it was announced that the anime would be continuing not with a Season 5, but with a new trilogy of feature films instead. This new trilogy is setting out to adapt the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga, and will bringing Tanjiro Kamado’s fight to its potential end.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will begin with its first part hitting theaters in Japan later this July, and North America later this September, and it’s the first unique movie in the anime’s run since the release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie – Mugen Train hit back in 2020. Is there a chance that this next movie can reach that same level of success? Not really, but it just might reach that box office level when the third and final film of the trilogy ends its run and you can add all three films together.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Was Built Different

We are quite literally in a much different world than we were in during the release of Mugen Train in theaters. Not only was that year in the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it was also released when Demon Slayer was at its hottest. When Demon Slayer‘s TV anime first began, there was a lot of support behind it but it really wasn’t dominating conversations like how it does now. It was a slow burn getting to where it is today, and the fandom for it outright exploded after Episode 19 of its run. So by the time that first season ended, Demon Slayer was on the cusp of a tidal wave.

Mugen Train just hit at the perfect time. Rather than continue the TV anime with a second season, fans needed to go to theaters to see the next step of the story. This was notable back then because this feature film that was part of the story’s official canon rather than offer a new, unrelated story not tied to anything in particular (which started to become a trend in the late 2010s). Capitalizing on just how big Demon Slayer had become, fans were able to see the film in theaters and really connect with other fans for the first real time in this pandemic era.

Mugen Train‘s success was simply unheard of at the time, and the anime industry is still changing in the wake of that box office takeover. It was such a hit during the pandemic that it’s changed the course for other anime releases. Not more anime are likely to hit theaters with new films than ever before, and there is a much quicker turnaround and distribution for international territories as more fans are interested in watching anime films than ever. Mugen Train was such a hit (breaking all sorts of records despite being an R-Rated animated film) that it literally changed how anime movies are made and released from then on.

ufotable / Shueisha

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Won’t Hit That Height

This is all to say that Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was such a massive success that the anime literally can never hit those same heights again. It was a lightning in a bottle type of success that can’t be replicated in the same way. The anime is just not as popular as it was after that first season, and Demon Slayer itself has diluted its feature film branding in the years since with attempts to bring fans to theaters for early premieres of its second, third, and fourth seasons. A “Demon Slayer movie” just doesn’t have the same appeal it used to any more.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has the chance to bring fans back into theaters thanks to being a brand new part of the story, but the fact it’s spread over a trilogy of features also further separates that appeal. It means that some of these releases will be more successful than the others, and fans might look at each film differently. It’s a shotgun blast of a strategy in the hopes of hitting that same mark Mugen Train did, and that’s a hard sell these days.

Demon Slayer isn’t the hot commodity it was all those years ago. While it still has the juice with fans who can’t wait to see many of these final fights in action, and will undoubtedly make a ton of money in theaters, it just won’t be as successful as Mugen Train. The closest this trilogy will get to matching that feat is when all three films have ended their run and we can add all three global totals together to see how big this really all was. That doesn’t mean that these films won’t be successful, they just won’t be as prominent as what hit before.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is coming back with the first part in a new trilogy of feature films later this year, and the synopsis for the first movie is teasing the start to the final battles. Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc came to an explosive end last year as Muzan Kibutsuji finally made his move on the Demon Slayers following Nezuko Kamado getting the ability to survive in the sunlight. Now it’s all hands on deck as Tanjiro and the surviving members of the Hashira have launched each of their efforts against the demons heading into this new movie trilogy taking it all on.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be kicking off its run later this year as the first film adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga release, and the first synopsis for the film has been revealed. Much like seen with the final moments of Season 4 of the TV anime, the film’s story teases that Tanjiro and the others have been thrown into the titular Infinity Castle and ready themselves to put their lives on the line one last time.

What Is Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle About?

First the synopsis for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle gets fans up to speed with everything that’s happened so far, “Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon. While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira.”

As the synopsis continues, it brings everything to present day, “Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village. As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion.”

Finally, the synopsis drops the real tease of, “With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

Demon Slayer wasted little time in becoming one of the biggest shonen series, even managing to dethrone One Piece from time to time despite the Straw Hats having a decades-long headstart. With the upcoming Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle set to be the first of three movies that are aiming to bring the series to a close, we had the opportunity to chat with none other than Abby Trott, the voice of Nezuko in the anime’s English Dub. Needless to say, Trott had plenty to say when it came to Nezuko as well as saying goodbye to the Ufotable anime adaptation that has become one of the biggest series in the world.

At the start of our interview, we asked Trott about setting the stage for Nezuko’s final adventure, as the Swordsmith Village Arc ended with Tanjiro’s sister regarding the ability to speak for the first time in some time, “Nezuko is an interesting character, she’s the character I see the least for but am the most recognized for. She’s a very special character to me and it’s been such a journey. I was able to talk as her in the first episode of the anime but then had to rely on more guttural noises. Most of the emotes are just growling but the flashbacks sometimes let me say something very important. Nezuko now being able to speak really let me have a lot of fun with some hilarious bits in the Hashira Training Arc. Calling Zenitsu ‘Inosuke’ is one of my favorite moments.”

Returning For Infinity Castle

Trott stated that while she knew the series would be popular, she had no idea that Demon Slayer would take off like it has, “From the start of Demon Slayer, I knew this would be popular but I had no idea how huge it would come. The opportunity to go to red carpets and meet the Japanese cast, it was amazing. I was able to go to Japan and do panels which was incredible. I’m super excited for the trilogy because I KNOW how good the animation is, I’ve heard the animation is amazing.”

The English voice of Nezuko also discussed how she compares her work to the original Japanese take on Demon Slayer, as voice actor Akiro Kito voices the demonic hero in the East, “It’s hard to avoid, when we’re auditioning, we’ll get a clip of the Japanese voice actors normally. Once you get into the booth, you hear the Japanese before you record your lines, looking at how the mouth moves before you do your performance. The animation is usually done before you add your voice but a lot of it is set. I often taken inspiration from Kito if I can sample her voice beforehand as they are cast for a reason. I think, ‘Why were they cast originally?'”

Demon Slayer Details

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is set to hit theaters in Japan on July 18th this summer, with the movie hitting North America on September 12th this fall. It has yet to be revealed why the West is waiting months to check out the first of this final film trilogy but it will give Abby and her fellow English voice actors the chance to put their heart and soul into the final battle. As of now, details regarding the last two movies remain few and far between but we’ll be happy to report on them once they make landfall.

Abby Trott’s Anime Career

Alongside Nezuko, Trott has had quite the career in the anime world. Last year, she took on the role of Momo in the runaway hit, Dandadan, voicing the psychic character who found herself fighting back supernatural and extraterrestrial threats alike. Trott has also had major roles in anime favorites including The Elusive Samurai, Mission: Yozakura Family, Suzume, Hunter x Hunter, The Seven Deadly Sins, Shaman King, and more.

When it comes to Western animated series, Trott has made a name for herself recently thanks to taking on the role of Spiral in X-Men ’97. This isn’t the only Marvel mutant that she has portrayed as she also plays Colossus’ sister, Magik, in the runaway smash video game, Marvel Rivals. Later this year, she is set to take on a role in a video game like none other, Date Everything!, which will allow players to participate in a dating simulator where you can do just that.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has had a lot to celebrate lately as not only has it confirmed when fans can see the first part of the new Infinity Castle movie trilogy now in the works, but have launched a special new anime short in collaboration with Major League Baseball. Demon Slayer surprised fans earlier this month when it was announced that they were going to be launching a special new collaboration with Major League Baseball. But for as mysterious as that initial announcement was, fans likely never thought it would bring out a full anime short showing off some of the MLB’s best players.

As part of the celebration for the upcoming MLB Tokyo Series and the upcoming release of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie across theaters later this year, a special team up between the two brands has launched. While there are more details and goods from this collaboraiton to be announced at a later date, this team up has kicked off with a special anime short showing off Los Angeles Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani debuting his own kind of Breathing Style. Animated by studio ufotable, check out the new short in the video above.

There is a question of where each film will be cutting off in terms of leading into each new release, but the schedule for the final two films in the trilogy has yet to be revealed as of the time of this publication. But either way, fans should get ready for some massive events that could only be seen on screens in an appropriately big way.

The Infinity Castle trilogy isn’t just bringing Demon Slayer to theaters once again, but it is planning to bring the beloved shonen franchise to an end.
